EBC Pro-Lite Brake Rotor. An aftermarket standard worldwide due to its close similarity to the motorcycle's original disc, plus its 18% higher friction braking power over stainless steel discs. The Pro-Lite rotors have a safe, riveted, and sturdy construction. Most Pro-Lite models now feature EBC's new square sided drive button system, which completely eliminates the chance of rotor warping, extends rotor life, and improves consistency of brake effect. Comments about EBC Pro-Lite Brake Rotor:

Background: I had to replace the front disks on my BMW R1100R after one of them had a catastrophic failure in motion. The factory replacements were around $500 each disk (!?!), and the dealer wanted to charge $120 for installation on top of that. A bit steep for a 13 year old bike.

The alternatives were Used (always dicey with brake components) or after market. In this case, the EBC's were the best choice in the after-market space.

Shopping: The Bike Bandit website had most of the information I needed, but a call to the customer line closed any gaps and assured I'd be ordering the right parts for the ABS equipped R,

The Good: The disks are well made and, in my opinion, look better than stock. The carriers are more heavily built than the OEM carriers and the grommets used to mount the disks to the carriers are higher quality than the factory ones - which, incidentally, are what sheered on my originals. The disks themselves are the same thickness as the factory disks, but are drilled with a less aggressive hole pattern, thus providing slightly more swept area than the factory disks.

They stop better than the OEM brakes. Though that's comparing them to the old pre-failure disks.

The Bad: Not much. They are ever so slightly heavier than stock and, with fewer holes in the drilling pattern, may retain a bit more heat. That's really it.

Installation: Painless. The hardest part was removing the ABS sensor ring from the old disk to place on the new one. The right and left disks have different part numbers, but the only difference I could see between them was that the Left side disk came with replacement machine screws to mount the sensor ring on the disk. Both disk had the pre-threaded holes to take the ring and test fitting revealed no noticeable difference between them.

Bottom line: At less than half the cost of an OEM disk, you can't go wrong. They look good. Work well. And come from a well respected name in the industry.

    clips hit the caliper

    By Dangela

    from Rochester, NY

    Pros

      Cons

      • The clips hit the caliper

      Best Uses

Comments about EBC Pro-Lite Brake Rotor:

The rotor went on fine. When I rolled the bike out of the garage, I heard click click click. When I took it apart I saw where the clips were hitting the mold marks on the caliper support. I ground them down so the clips missed while rolling but under hard braking there's enough flexing to make the clips hit the caliper support and make a clicking sound. I may get away with grinding the surface of the caliper support a little bit more but my recomendation would be to stick with OEM parts for a honda VT1100C.

        R 90/6 Brakes

Comments about EBC Pro-Lite Brake Rotor:

These brakes fit perfectly on my 1974 R 90/6. Installation was easy. It took about an hour. There is a noticeable improvement in performance over the worn stock brakes. The pads, also from Bike Bandit fit, and came with all of the small parts needed for installation. I was a little concerned that modern brakes wouldn't look, but they are perfect for my 70s cafe racer.

Simple to fit, anyone can do it

Comments about EBC Pro-Lite Brake Rotor:

The CBR 600 EBC rotors fitted so simply I was surprised. There was no filing or modifications requied, they lined up straight away. These rotors were fitted to a project, highly modified 1981 CBX1000 and have been the easiest part of the project. I'm six weeks away from completing this project so can't report on the performance but they certainly look great, fit great and save a lot of weight on the front end..

            A:

Thank you for your question. This is just a sample image. The application depends on the braking system. The image shows a semi floating disc. Some of the older models used a solid disc. From the images of your bike, No the disc will not look like the one in the image.
