Comments about Koso DB-01R Multi-Function Electronic Speedometer:

I originally bought this speedo 3 years ago for my '83 Suzuki GS550ESD after my instrument cluster was destroyed in a hail storm I got caught in. My intial thoughts were that the unit was rather small, but it is intended for off-road use, so that is to be expected. Installation was quite easy. I salvaged the wire harness that went into my original cluster and used my Clymers manual to connect all the wires properly. The only hard part was getting the speedo calibrated. It took several attempts adjusting the calibration, but finally got it and never had to touch it again.

But THIS is what REALLY impressed me. I sold the bike 2 years ago and JUST got the bike back yesterday. It was completely submerged in the 2013 Colorado Floods. The person who had it said that the bike was not only fooded, but SO flooded that the only exposed part of the bike was the corner of the side mirror. Just for fun and curiosity, I put the bike on the charger for a bit, turned the key and THE SPEEDOMETER LIT RIGHT UP WITH NO ISSUES!!!!! I can't express how impressed I am that this little unit still works after being submerged in flood water for over a week.

If you're looking for a speedo for you bike or quad that will handle any elements you can throw at it, THIS IS IT!

  • Q:

I am looking to replace my cluster and was wondering if this is compatible with a cable tach? Does it connect? Is there an adapter? or do I need to use a different cluster?

Thanks for the question. This will not use the cable for the tach, but rather a sensor off one of the plug wires. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you by contacting us by email at Sales@bikebandit.com, Live Chat or by phone toll free at 888-339-3888. We are more than happy to help.

Thanks for the question. This is a universal product and is made to fit a wide range of motorcycles. Some modification may be required and we cannot guarantee fitment. The Guage cluster will include all the necessary sensors and switches to properly install the unit.

  • Q:

would this fit my 98 cbr 600 f3? if not what prouducts would you recommend for it besides stock?
Asked on 7/30/2012 by J.T. from Phoenix, AZ

Thanks for the question. This is a universal fit item and we cannot guarantee the fitment. However this type of replacement is what this product is made for. It's designed with a lot of adaptablity in mind. You will need to make adjustments as this will nit be a direct plug-in replacement.

That is a good question! Unfortunately this product does not provide a fitment listing. This would be a universal item that would work on most if not all street machines.
