Comments about Vance & Hines Longshots Exhaust System:

After further discussion with V&H about the bluing on my muffler...I was informed that because this model does not have heat shields (like the newer "HS" models that cost a bit more), they cannot warranty and cover the bluing on my pipes. Unfortunately the advertisment that they have "full-length heat shields" is just not true. The heat shields on the originals extend from the block to the muffler (head pipes) ONLY. They (V&H) were kind enough to offer a discount on a replacement muffler...so that's something. I would strongly advise spending the extra for the HS models! While it took them quite a while to respond to my inquiries...they did get around to it and were pretty nice to deal with thereafter.

      • Q:

Will the guards cover the full length of the long shots ? Because I would hate to spend all this cash and find blueing later on a part of this exhaust. Thanks, Mike

          A:

Thank you for your question. Yes the guards cover the full length of the Pipes. Blueing only happens when the bike is not properly tuned. With the exhaust you will need a jett kit or a F.I. tuning module. With the correct map, or jetting your pipes will not turn blue.

      • Q:

I am a retired (1975-2010) Factory trained and certified Master; Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini Tech. I only say this so that you may know that I have a thorough understanding of Engine Theory, Performance Tuning, Fabrication, Etc... I just inherited a 2002 Honda VT1100C2 Shadow/Sabre. She came with straight/dual pipes which are way to loud and also sweep out past the foot pegs. They must be replaced. I am looking to baffle her down and pull the pipes closer to the chassis. Do you have such a product, and if so, will re-jeting be required?

Thank you for your question. Is the existing exhaust system the Vance and Hines? Or is this an exhaust of interest? The Vance an Hines systems do have optional baffle kits. You can tone down the sound if desired. Typically you will have to re-jett the carbs when installing a full system exhaust. Vance and hines has upgrade jett kits that already have the science done for you. Simple install and adjustment to the specs given and your on your way. Below is a few links to such items:

Thanks for your question! We suggest taking this to your local service shop to see if re-jetting will be necessary. It depends on the machine.

Thanks for your question! We checked into this for you and only show the Classic 2 system being offered for your machine on the Vance and Hines website. This pipe would not work on your model.
