Comments about UNI Crankcase Breather Filter:

Ok. When these arrived I thought, "Dang! They sent the wrong ones!" They didn't, so let me explain. When ordering, Upon selecting the type (push in / Push on) the picture will show either a filter w/ a white tip (Push in - The end goes INTO a hole or INTO the end of a hose) or one with a black tip (That's a Push on - It fits OVER a fitting or OVER a hose (Which who would do that, but I'm not gonna judge that!)). However, at least in my case, the tips were black when I ordered Push In types. Well they must have changed things at 'ol UNI because they were black but they where indeed Push In types. So, order what you need and forget the tip color. How do they perform? They're UNI's - They're great!!

Comments about UNI Crankcase Breather Filter:

This breather filter was for my Suzuki Savage crankcase breather hose. The filter is compact and well made. The fact that it flexes a little gave me some needed "wiggle room" for a tight installation. Good stuff as usual, from Bike Bandit.

Pros

  • Easy To Install

Cons

  • Only comes in red

Best Uses

  • Not Running An Airbox

Comments about UNI Crankcase Breather Filter:

Bought this to catch oil etc leaving the breather and to prevent anything from entering after I removed the stock airbox from my 79 GS850. It was a snap to install and the style matches the pod filters I replaced my airbox with. It would be nice if it were chrome and the same colour as my pods, but the red isn't too bad.

How I chose the size and style: I wanted to push this into the end of the hose that ran from my breather to my airbox so I bought the "push in" style. (If I wanted to clamp it onto the breather nipple of my valve cover, I would have ordered the "clamp on" style).

The lip on my airbox attachment was 1/2" and the I.D. of my breather hose was 7/16". I ordered the 1/2" filter. With a bit of encouragement, the filter pushed into the hose and sat snugly.

Then I just tightened up the hose clamp and used the enclosed zip tie to snug it up to the airbox mounting tab.

It probably took 10 minutes from the time I opened the package to the time I snugged up the zip tie AND I had to remove the gas tank bolt to get a little bit of finger room to work.

  • Q:

If I want to mount the breather directly to the metal nipple on my crankcase, should I get the clamp-on or push-in?

Thanks for your question! If mounting to a metal fitting, the clamp on style would make the most sense. The push in style would work best for connecting to a hose.

Thank you for your question. The 2 styles are clamp-on and push in. Part number # 24619 is a clamp -on style 1/2" spigot. The breather #24622 is a push in style 1/2" breather. • Q:

Are the measurements listed inside or outside diameter? I posted earlier with the question about the INSIDE diameter being about 1/4 inch (thanks also for the reply!) but I forgot to ask if the listed measurements are Inside or Outside diameter. There seems to be some confusion on the customer reviews about this issue too. Thanks.

Thank you for your question. The sizes are the outside diameter of the spigot.( The outer part where the hose slips onto.) The 3/8" filter will be the correct choice for the application. Thank you for the question! The 5/16 fitment will be slightly larger than 1/4. Which looks like it will be the fit for you.
