BEWARE OF FACTORY PRO! WASTED MONEY!!

Comments about Factory Pro Stage 3 Jet Kit:

Hi,

I am a motorcycle mechanic with over 10 years experience. I work in a very busy shop and service carbs almost every day and I am here to warn you about what you might get when dealing with this company.

I purchased one of their kits 2 years ago for a 1994 Suzuki GS500E. The GS500's due to emissions have poor idle characteristics and a flat spot low in the powerband. "Perfect, Factory Pro has a kit...I'll toss it in the bike and be on my way!" I only wish that was the case and I probably should have purchased the DYNOJET kit instead.

Now keep in mind that I am a specific motorcycle mechanic and I install jet kits almost every week where I work. These jet kits are designed to take the guess work out of the equation after adding a new exhaust system or making intake changes or other performance mods. Essentially when you give the engine more AIR you need to feed it more FUEL to compensate, this is why we go to companies like DYNOJET and factorypro, because they use the proper tools to set up these kits so that they work with ease after said change to the engine.

After installing their kit, this poor GS500 went to hell and back. I've never had a jet kit impossible to tune until now. Their needle taper was way to rich in the midrange. After having the carbs on and off the bike 20+ times I decided to give FP a call and see what they might have to suggest. NOTHING! Nothing more than what I have already done. At that point I had 3 pages of notes for reference with not 1 good tune. From raising/lowering fuel level, changing the jet sizes(even beyond what the kit supplied), making fuel screw adjustments, air filter changes and needle height changes, NOTHING seemed like it would get rid of this richness in the mid-range. After trying different combinations over and over again, I'm going to guess I had removed/readjusted these carbs over 40 times, I decided then to put the STOCK Suzuki needles back in and see what happens. I made a few fuel level adjustments and made a pilot jet change and viola! The bike was perfect!

I cannot believe I spent so much time trying to tune to this jet kit, NEVER AGAIN!

So, here is the real kicker. I call up Factory Pro again, explain my case and see what I can do about getting a refund for this unusable kit. They pretty much said they guarantee the kit will work and because of that they will not refund.

Their customer service was not good and so I cannot and will not recommend their kits any more.

I hope you find this helpful. And again, I recommend DYNOJET kits in the future.

Comments about Factory Pro Stage 3 Jet Kit:

This kit comes with most every thing needed to jet your carb. It is very easy to install. It may take a few tries to get it set up right but when you get there you will love it! The only thing I didn't like is that it doesn't come with a new spring.I used my stock spring.you have to cut it down some to get faster throttle response. Take about one third of the lenth off of it and you'll be set.

I have a VTX 1300 modified stock airbox, the intake openings have been cut larger and using a K&N filter. I've desmogged it as well. I have Hard Krome K2s. My question is which kit is the appropriate one? Stage 1 or Stage 3?

Thanks for your question! You would need stage 1 since stage 2 is for when the air box has been removed completely.
