Comments about Race Tech Gold Valve Fork Kit:

The kit arrived missing shims and reading the instructions, it may not come with all shims for all applications. Racetech quickly sent shims by mail when I emailed. However, instructions are very generic for multiple applications and contain some contradictions. There are different parts for different models so you have some extra parts that add further confusion (at least on this particular kit). I see at least 2 ways this could be assembled on this particular bike. The email response to assembly questions was "look at the instructions". I found a private post on how to assemble for this model and followed that. However, it looked like an earlier model kit so some parts were a little different. I have experience with this type of thing and even have the Racetech book so am disappointed.
The parts in the kit can not be expensive to make so what you are really paying for is the company's expertise and specific set up instructions for your application. They need to communicate this more clearly. I have not even put the bike back together but am wondering if I should have gone with the one competing product out there. I assume that Racetech installs these at their shop. They could take pictures of what the assembly looks like for each particular model and put it somewhere on their web site. This could be built up over time with little effort. The info could even be behind some type of kit password to limit access.

Comments about Race Tech Gold Valve Fork Kit:

I installed these on my '12 KLX250 to improve the action on my forks. The install is pretty straight forward but the included instructions are very generic and required a bit of thought to get the piston/valve setup right. The final results are that the action of the forks is much better-sharp hits don't jar your arms and the bike is easier to control in the rough.
