Comments about Alpinestars Afrika Gore-Tex XCR Motorcycle Boots:
These boots have some great qualities. The construction of the uppers is great, they seem to be waterproof, and there is good padding above the soles. The downside is that the soles are really thin, perhaps a cm thick at the thickest point, and less elsewhere. After riding with these 10 days, wear is already visible. The laces are also really thin, which is a shame as they are well designed and pull tight rather than knot, so while I could replace them with ordinary shoe laces they wouldn't be as easy as the laces that come with the boots, however I already broke one. Not terribly warm, but they don't advertise them as such, and I'm using them in January in Oregon. They look good enough to wear to work. Would be the ideal commuting boot if the soles were more like a hiking boot sole.
