serious protection

I ride very often, several times a week, in all kinds of weather. Some of it is commuting, and I worry about crashes being potentially serious. I like this jacket for the protection. It does fit under the jacket I have w/ the protection removed from that one. However, though I used the sizing chart studiously, it is extremely tight, and hard to get on and off. I get that you need it tight to keep things in place, but I really enjoy breathing. I'm a size 6-8, closer to 6, I ordered a medium, which should be 8-10 per the sizing chart. I wish I had ordered a large.
