Fits The Bill Just Fine

By Chalkdust

from Woodinville, WA

Comments about Chase Harper 650 Motorcycle Tank Bag:

Chase Harper is known for medium to high quality products but at a significantly lower price than the other well-known brands. This bag follows suit. I needed a magnetic tank bag for my vintage 1986 Kawasaki Ninja 1000. I didn't need a big expandable "enough stuff for a 3-day trip" bag, but large enough to carry a fleece, a couple of bottles of water, extra gloves, flashlight and the usual "out and about" emergency stuff. This fits the bill just fine. Contrary to the depiction in the catalogue illustration, it comes with a detachable two-sided clear map pocket, which I regarded as a pleasant surprise bonus. It sits perfectly atop the Ninja's tank and the magnets seem up to the task of holding it in place. It has external mesh pockets on each side of the bag, but I would not trust them with anything valuable. The internal side of the top flap has a zipped pocket and a mesh pocket for papers and such, and if you are not using the map pocket the lacing on top will easily hold a hydration bladder or water bottle. Nits: The zippers do not have classic tab-style pulls but rather short pieces of braided nylon that are impossible to use with gloves, and I'd like to have at least one external zippered pocket. Otherwise, a great buy and a versatile "day-tripper" tank bag.

Comments about Chase Harper 650 Motorcycle Tank Bag:

I received my bag in the mail and when I opened it I thought how in the world will these magnets hold this thing on ? I was totally wrong! The magnets are small but POWERFUL and haven't regretted the purchase at all ! Roomy and secure. I even put my Big digital camera with a Zoom lens on it inside and room for something to drink also. Flashlight, batteries, rain jacket, all fit and I'm 100% satisfied.

Chase Harper 650 magnetic tank bag

Comments about Chase Harper 650 Motorcycle Tank Bag:

I was concerned about how it would fit my '84 Honda Nighthawk 700. It has the older style gas tank that seems to be a bit more narrow than some newer bikes. The 650 tank bag seems to be the perfect fit! Since I recently painted the bike, I also like the protective rubber bottom - no scratches. Its secure at highway speeds without the optional strap, and quick connect buckle, thats included. Its very roomy and has about 6 pockets. I also like the removable map pocket.

Chase Harper 650 Tank Bag

Comments about Chase Harper 650 Motorcycle Tank Bag:

This is the bag that search gave me when I punched in Harley Davidson. Said it would fit. It does if you do not need the center quick release strap because it must be attached to the steering neck, which any Harley rider knows, is where the gages are and the ignition switch on all softtails to include your speedometer are dead smack in the middle of. No rain cover was offered as an option when ordering, none was suggested. Other than the above two issues the tank bag does have small but powerful magnets and the several storage options prove to be quite handy. The removable map pouch is pretty easy to flip over on the move and still have it attached to the bag, removing all fear of loosing it to the wind gods. You must use a liguid spray if you desire to keep everything inside dry and coat the waterproofing on heavy around All the seams. I also tried a shower cap with the elastic band around the bottom and it worked wonderfully. One fault---get a clear one so you don't loose your map pocket view. One cap survived the Blue Ridge Park Way and the Dragon's Tail in Tenneessee. Over all---a good pack for the money.
