9/11 Tribute Motorcycles
September 11, 2013 - San Diego, CA
We all remember where we were twelve years ago when we heard the news. I was at home, getting ready to leave for class. My mom got a call from her brother to turn on the news. We then sat, somber and grievous, as the events that would forever change our nation's history forever unfolded before our very eyes.
It's been over a decade now since September 11, 2001 yet it still hangs heavily in our hearts. Memorials have been constructed and each of us remembers in our own way. For many in the motorcycle community, they devoted their pride and joy to honoring those lost that day. In honor of today, September 11th, here are some of our favorite 9/11 inspired motorcycles.
9/11 Memorial Motorcycle
Built by Paul Teutul, Jr. from American Chopper, this 9/11 memorial motorcycle was built specifically for the World Trade Center memorial. Paul Jr. said that he was greatly inspired by the towers. The bike was unveiled on October 5, 2011 at the memorial ceremony. Two were built and the second was raffled off to a lucky winner to raise money for the memorial museum.
Orange County Choppers Tribute Motorcycle
In honor of all of the firemen lost on September 11, Orange County Choppers built a tribute motorcycle to all firefighters that can be found at their headquarters in New York. It's surrounded by tons of patches and helmets of firefighters.
V-Rod 9/11 Tribute Motorcycle
Built by a couple from Colorado as their wedding gift to each other, this 9/11 Tribute motorcycle is often seen at motorcycle shows as well as being ridden through the U.S.
FDNY ZX-7R Tribute Bike
Of course, not all of the tribute bikes are cruisers. This 2001 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R was designed in 2006 for the 5 year anniversary of September 11 to memorialize the 343 fallen Firefighters.
