EnduroCross Championship - Round 6, Boise, ID

Saturday, October 22, 2011
While Taddy Blazusiak may have walked away with his sixth EnduroCross win this weekend, the championship is still alive and well. On his way to successfully achieving the enigma of a perfect EnduroCross season, Blazusiak only has one race left to win. Last year saw Blazusiak reign in the series while only letting his lead slip away during the 5th round in Denver. 2011, however, is looking to give Blazusiak the championship title without a single slip up.

This weekend was the first time that EnduroCross has ever come to Idaho and Blazusiak surely did not disappoint the gem state. Jumping out to the front of the pack in the first turn of the race, Blazusiak secured an unbelievable lead by jumping completely over the first pond. Though the track was a uniquely difficult one this weekend featuring the first double pond section ending with logs, Blazusiak flew through it with ease to win.

But with one race left in the season, Mike Brown has managed to challenge Blazusiak till the end. This weekends race in Boise, Idaho could have secured the title for the returning champion had he scored thirteen or more points than Brown; requiring Brown to at least come in second place. For a moment, Justin Soule looked to keep Brown for taking second but was overcome in the rock section before colliding with Cody Webb in the pond section giving Geoff Aaron third place.

With Brown coming in second, the title could still be stolen from Blazusiak in the final round in Las Vegas in November 19th. But with the way Blazusiak has been dominating this entire season, it would take a rather extreme upset.

After his collision with Webb, Soule was able to climb back up to finish fourth despite having lost his visor and goggle in the duel. Gary Southerlin was able to stay ahead of the pack to finish fifth with Bobby Prochnaul, Keith Sweeten and Kyle Redmond behind him.

Following his altercation with Soule in the pond during the fight for third, Webb was only able to score a ninth place finish with Max Gerston and Eric Rhoten wrapping up the race.
