Video Feature - Carmichael: The Road Back to Loretta's
If you're new to this whole motocross racing thing, there's one name you should definitely know. Ricky Carmichael is affectionately known as the GOAT, Greatest Of All Time, and for very good reason. Once he stepped into the professional motocross ring in 1996 for the first time, Carmichael easily walked away with more titles than most high school graduates could count and was names the AMA's Athlete of the Year five times in a row. It wasn't until 2007, after years of winning that Carmichael stepped off of the motocross track and into retirement, breaking motocross fans' hearts everywhere.
Earlier this year, however, the GOAT announced that he would be taking a break from his leisurely NASCAR racing to get back out on the motocross track once again. The biggest difference? This time, Carmichael isn't doing it for the fame, the fortune or the awards. Instead, he's doing it for the love of the ride. While winning may not be something to spit at, it sounds as though Carmichael didn't really get the best chance to enjoy what most riders do, the fun and even family aspect of racing. Now, Carmichael is getting back on the bike to race just for the heck of it.
Still, fans can't help but want to follow him every step of the way. Leave it to Fox Racing to start a video series on the GOAT's re-entry into the motocross world. You might be surprised at how well the seasoned vet does on the track for his first time back out. Here's to hoping that Carmichael doesn't make himself out to be the Brett Favre of motocross.
