Comments about Dunlop Elite 3 Motorcycle Tire:

First off I need to say... I hate Dunlop tires. I've hated them for more than 20 years. For a tire that costs that much to wear out that quick should be a crime. I have used Metzlers for a really long time and thought they were great until the last few years, then... well, I don't know what they changed, but Metzlers are not the same.

One day, right in the middle of a long trip, I noticed my rear tire was shot. Because I was 2,200 miles from home and the shop I stopped at only kept Dunlop in stock, I gave the Eleite 3 a shot. That is when I figured out this aint your run-of-the-mill, stock Dunlop. It just kept going and going.

So because of the surprisingly good performance and longevity of the Eleite 3 and the iffy quality of my preferred brand I now have a new favorite tire.

Comments about Dunlop Elite 3 Motorcycle Tire:

I am running my 2nd set of E3's on a 1983 Honda GL1100. First set I got 14,000 miles out of them. I ride two up for a total weight of 1,170 pounds as per the Dunlop Americade weigh in. I already have 4,000 miles on this set this season. Nice ride, trac well, excellent rain traction, and they are invisible to rain grooves and open steal deck bridges. Ride very well over the expansion joint between lanes on the 4 lane. On road snakes,(tar strips) they are better then the E2's. I just recommended them to a friend who is about to ride cross country on his GL1500. The only thing I did not like is the DOT label showed they were already two years old when Bikebandit sent them to me this past winter. I kept them because I will wear them out before they are 4 years old. Ask Bikebandit to check the DOT manufacture date before they ship them out. [...]

Comments about Dunlop Elite 3 Motorcycle Tire:

I bought these Dunlop Elite 3s as a replacement for Metzler 880s. The Metz is a good tire but only provides 6-9K miles....no good. I researched the best tires for long-distance riding and the E3s were highly rated. [...] Also, there's an issue about radial vs bias ply. Should a rider mix and match? Which is best? Well, that's up to the buyer, but the issue should be mentioned.Lastly, i notice no difference in the ride. These E3s feel just as comfortable as the Metz did. I'd heard that because they're harder, the ride would be stiffer. So far, that's not the case.

      Dunlop Elite 3

Comments about Dunlop Elite 3 Motorcycle Tire:

First let me say I was very impressed with the price of the product from Bike Bandit. They beat any other reputable online supplier I checked and I do comparison shop. I was also impressed at how fast the product arrived at my home. I will definitley be buying more tires from them. I'm installing the Elite 3 on the front of my 1995 Kawasaki Voyager to compliment the rear Elite 3 I installed about 1000 miles ago. I cannot comment on wear as this is my first set of Elite 3's. Elite 2's have served me well with very good mileage for the last 65,000 miles so we'll see if the Elite 3's compare. I wish Dunlop made tires for my Burgman 650 touring scooter.

      Service and delivery comments:

      Fast shipping, best price.

I looked for the dunlop elite series however I did not find the rear size available. Please help with a replacement as I would like to order ASAP. Thanks for any assistance, Garey Case

Thank you for your question. Part number for the front tire is # 44744. Part number for the rear tire is # 44743. My research material states the VTX1800 is able to use the 180/70-16. I own a 1500 Goldwing and the front tire is the elite 3 and I have around 7to 8 thousand miles on it. My question is why does the tire chop real bad other riders tell me that all the Goldwings do that due to the weight on the front when stopping. IS THIS TRUE

          A:

Thank you for your question. Yes that is partially true, The tire may not have the load index recommended by Honda. Also how often is the tire pressure checked and adjusted? A low tire can cup after prolong usage. A cupping tire can adversly affect the way a bike will handle and brake. Run your hand along the center of the tire can you feel a wavey motion? If so your tire is cupping, if not your tire is ok. Ihave a 2003 Kaw Vulcan Nomad f1 with a 150/80/16 tire on the back and front. I want to replace the rear tire with a 160/80/16, will it fit? What is the difference in width? The on-line chat guy said that it would work if there's sufficient clearance. How can I determine clearence needed?
Asked on 10/29/2012 by Bob from Evensville, TN

        1 answer

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Thank you for your question. You will have to measure the clearences on both sides of the tire. A 160/80-16 is roughly 10mm wider. So you have to have the clearences to accommodate the extra 10mm. Measure between the tire and the final drive, and between the tire and the swingarm. If you are not gonna contact the 2 areas then you have sufficient clearence. Thank you for your question. Is the tire a MU85B-16? The conversion is to a 140/90B-16. The E3 is not available in that size. The MU90B-16 may be the replacement. Thank you for your question. Yes this Dunlop Elite 3 Motorcycle Tire is available in a MV85-15. The Elite 3 has the same load/speed index as the elite 2. Dunlop Elite 3 exceeds the longevity and performance of the earlier model tires.
