Comments about Emgo Carburetor Synchronizer:
I've used them to balance my 77 Kawasaki KZ650 carbs with great success. I also used them to synchronise my BMW R1100 throttle bodies with great success.I checked gauge accuracy by connecting to a single source and they were all spot on. This was my only concern with going to gauges having used mercury and liquid filled systems in the past.I found them easier to use than the liquid filled systems as it was much easier to place gauges where I could see them while making adjustments, on the Kawasaki they could sit on the seat, on the BMW on the floor under the bike, this meant I could easily see the gauges and make adjustments at the same time, whichever side of the bike I was working on. The only thing I disliked was the fact they don't come with the short lengths of rubber tube needed to connect the damper valves to the gauges. You either have to cut a piece off the tubing supplied to connect to the bike, or in my case I had some spare vacuum pipe lying around. It wasn't a biggie, given the great sale price I got, but detracted from the experience nonetheless. The instructions made no mention of this or how to assemble, although it could be argued that if you couldn't work that one out for yourself you probably have no business playing with carburetors.

good buy

I was hesitant to spend the money on this, but I am really glad I did. This bike is my first time working on one, and I was able to synchronize my carbs in only a couple minutes (tank and everything was already off). The bike runs MUCH smoother now. Also glad I don't have to worry about sucking the fluid from a manometer style tool. If you close the nylon valves before starting the bike, and then open them slowly while it's running, you don't risk damaging the gauges. My only complaint is that the nylon valves are really cheap. They work, but they skip a thread really easily if you tighten them too much (which is easily done with only light finger pressure).

Works just fine

Just hook it up and adjust the valves down. When started open slowly and so all needles react the same. Then adjust by starting with the carb that is the stationary one and adjust all the others to match it.When you get it right you can hear and feel it.
