Comments about Firstgear Kilimanjaro Motorcycle Jacket 2012:
I am reviewing the Firstgear Kilimanjaro 2012 model. I have only had this jacket for about 1 month. Itis water proof and ok in cold weather. I have worn it down to 9 F and was not cold. That is as cold as ithas gotten on my way to work so far this winter. I had a short sleeved and a long sleeved t-shirt onalong with a sweatshirt. I did have other clothes on as well A.K.A pants shoes gloves helmet. My bikehas a windscreen and a fairing. The jacket is very flexible because of the D3o armor. The onlycomplaint I have is that the D3O armor is CE approved only to -4 F so hopefully I do not have anopportunity to test it out above or below that temperature. I also have a firtsgear Kilimanjaro from 2009and that jacket stayed waterproof for 2-3 years. I wore the old jacket down to -9 F with the same kindof clothing with a vest as previously mentioned. The zipper lasted about 2.5k zips. But I think it is agood jacket over all. I am just to hard of a rider because I ride all year.

first off I love this jacket. However, there is one small problem I haven't had to deal with using any other first gear jackets I have owned. This one leaks! The stretchy fabric on the shoulders and in the arm pits, leaks. I had to treat the material with a goretex compatible spray during my trip that seemed to remedy the issue with the katmandu pants, that utilizes this same fabric, but never could seem to completely seal off the jacket. Shoulders stayed dry after that, but I am not sure that the only problem was the stretchy fabric. It may be also with the zippers. The breast pockets are great, but they continue to fill up with at least a cup of water when riding in the rain with the zippers well seated. All-in-all I really like the jacket but it doesn't live up to the quality I have come to expect from first gear apparel.
Great Jacket!

I purchased the last version on a closeout to replace my Olympia AST. Glad I did. The Olympia was a nice jacket but leaked like a seive and having owned other Firstgear products, I felt very comfortable purchasing this one.I haven't had the Kili in the rain yet but it fits my body better than the olympia. Also, it may be a tad warmer in the cold temperatures. The liner looks great on it's own as well. We'll see how well it breathes in the warmer months. Time (and a bit of rain) will tell if this jacket will hold up. If it is built as well as other FirstGear products, I will have no issues for a long time.
