dirt good street bad

By enderoTE

from Iowa

Comments about Metzeler MCE Karoo Motorcycle Tire:

I have a husqy te 610 and ride 90% street. It came new with this tire and it did great off road. But the street rubbed it off like it was made of chalk. Good in the dirt. Short lived on the street!

Great off road, but not going to last on street

By Ken W

Comments about Metzeler MCE Karoo Motorcycle Tire:

These came stock on my KTM 950 Super Enduro R (not sure what the "R" is for since they didn't make a "non R" version) but I love the bike! The tire are okay... not the most aggressive street legal (DOT) knobby motorcyce tires I have ridden, but they hold there own.
They did really well on the street and the bike felt totally stable in the corners.
They seem like they will last a little less than average as the compound is fairly soft (at least for the big 950 and in the rocky So Cal terrain).
I don't think I will replace these when they wear out with the same set, but all in they are good tire. I ride mine 95% off road desert and there are more of a 60/40 tire (off road / road).
I love Metzeler and think most of their motorcycle tires are top notch. The Karoo takes a good shot at the almost impossible task of making a tire that is good on and off road, but there are better tires out there.

Best V-strom rear I've tried

By Skippii

from Virginia

Comments about Metzeler MCE Karoo Motorcycle Tire:

I've tried a number of tires on my V-strom, and this is the best.
On the street in pouring rain, they gripped MUCH better than the TKCs I had before.
In the dirt and mud, they can't be beat. No problems with traction even when giving full throttle on my V-strom 1000 (as long as you do it smoothly)
I barely got to try them on dry paved roads at all, but when I did, they felt great.

I can't comment much on the wear. When I flew off a muddy dirt trail and down a cliff with my bike and totalled it, I only had around 300 miles on, but the tires looked just as they did when I put them on, which is pretty good for riding at 25psi!
I'm sure that had I had a matching front instead of a street tire, I'd still have my motorcycle.
