Comments about Motion Pro Chain Riveting Tool Replacement Pins:

If you broke any of your pins these are the ones you need. But be careful they are the same material.

Not High Quality Steel

Comments about Motion Pro Chain Riveting Tool Replacement Pins:

I'm not a pro. I have one bike, and am replacing the chain for the 2nd time.

The original kit costs around $100, and fortunately I broke the pin *after* the last link was removed - during my first chain replacement.

The chain breaker replacement pin - what I'm reviewing here - lasted about as long. I had to remove two links, and it broke after the 2nd. So, I don't need one until the next chain replacement.

But I'm a bit ticked that the tool breaks so easily. And this time I ground the rivets smooth with the plate before pressing them out.

I noticed that Honda offers a chain breaker in my factory manual (for 90-96 VFR750, which is a 530 size chain). I think there are other mfrs out there. I suggest (if you're reading this) that you seek out reviews of the competition for a whole kit before buying.

I'm not sure any other mfr's replacement pins would work, so I'm stuck buying another replacement pin.

Yeah, they break but...

Comments about Motion Pro Chain Riveting Tool Replacement Pins:

It's possible to use them without breaking them, it just took me a while to figure it out. Use a dremel and cut the outside of the chain pin you wish to remove off. Then when you use the chain breaker allow as little of the motion pro pin as possible to be sticking out of the tool before you begin driving it into your chain. Haven't broken a pin since I started doing this, but had some old broken ones to replace. Long story short, they work well, but with 500 series chains and larger grind or cut the outside of the chain pin first. Not surprising they break given the diameter of these things, but a bit frustrating none the less.

Replacement pins

Comments about Motion Pro Chain Riveting Tool Replacement Pins:

I bought replacement pins after the original pins broke the first time I used them. Of course, the replacements are no better than the original. I should have cut my losses and thrown the thing away. When I bought replacement pins, I also bought the Motion Pro heavy duty chain tool. Hopefully it will be better than this thing.

      A:

Thank you for your question. The $90 kit is the Tool with the case and pins. The $5 item is the replacement pins for the tool. The pins may break after prolong usage. The $90 kit will include all 3 pins and will work for your bike.
