Comments about Motion Pro Helmet Lock:
I wanted a lock to add to my rear rack (its a 7/8 diameter bar). Fitted nicely and served well.I hate that I have to turn the key, leave it turned, lock my helmet (and most cases helmets) push the hinge closed and attempt to turn the key and remove. Few times the key needed a little motivation to remove. It works, and hasn't failed. It's convenient, subtle, with a nice finish. But the build quality is less then par, and probably will look into alternatives.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Inexpensive way to lock your helmet
By Motor Guy Mike

Easy to install but, uses tamper proof screws. Make sure you have it in position before tightening. Black coating scraped off easily when my screwdriver hit it, lightly. Seems ok to secure helmets as long as there's not a thief with a little determination. Probably cut through the hook with a pair of wire cutters.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Does the job, if you put in some effort
The powder coated black paint is cheap and can easily be scratched off even while first attaching the lock to your bike. Its clamping diameter is also a wierd size, 7/8 inch, good luck finding anything on your bike that is that size. I had to make a shim using a 1/16 inch thick aluminum strip to wrap around the 3/4 inch tubing on my bike's luggage rack in order to make a 7/8 inch diameter tube for the helmet lock to actually clamp onto. The locking mechanism itself works well and the self locking screws work surprising well.
