This transformable rally-style jacket / vest combo is designed to be worn over a roost deflector. It is made of 420 denier Oxford nylon with heavy-duty nylon in the elbows and shoulders for extra protection. The sleeves zip off this jacket to easily convert it into a vest, and a vented rear pouch on the upper back holds the sleeves. There are zippered vents in the front and back, and four front pockets, two internal pockets, and a pleated lower back pocket that adds extra storage. The fleece-lined hand warmer pockets have internal shock cord adjusters in the pocket, and internal pockets in the mesh lining are designed to accept an optional pair of elbow guards. Heavy, polyurethane coating keeps the fabric water-resistant.

Comments about MSR Trans Jak Motorcycle Jacket:
This jacket is pretty much what it says it is. For the good, the jacket has a great SIMPLE design, the jacket doesn't have that many parts that will break or rip apart. The velcro is used where other companies use buttons (snaps) which I have found to break off and fall apart. Where as Velcro does not. The Bad, venting is very needed but effective, as the PU coating is not very breathable at all. My favorite with the Trans is that it is a great fit, when sized correctly over all the elbow, shoulder, back, and chest pads as well as clothing for cold weather... that I wear off road. And it seals right up (venting shut) for good on road speed sections keeping me warm. Note: the Trans pants (which are really nice) DO NOT have the same grey color that the grey and black jacket have, they don't match but look OK together. It is worth getting a size larger (or 2 sizes larger for pads to fit with ease of movement.) E.g. I am a MED and ordered a XL to get the pads to fit OK, and they do with total freedom of movement! A large was a little tight on my back with roost deflector XL is great.
