Comments about Mustang Wide Touring Seat:

This is the most expensive upgrade I've ever bought for my bike but it's totally worth it. We all know what the original seat is like and what the problems are, so I won't talk about them here.

First thing I noticed is that this has a backrest. I thought it wouldn't have one since it wasn't stated (and it didn't have on in the product pic) that it did like with the Wide Regal version, but it does. No problem with fitting, though, even with the sissy bar and pad. Needless to say, my wife loves the new set up. She feels so comfortable and secure back there that she has to fight the urge to fall asleep! Not good. But, it just shows how great the passenger accommodations are.

As for myself, I couldn't be happier. It takes much longer for me to feel uncomfortable and I don't feel the same acute pain and numbness that I felt with the old seat. Of course you can't remove the discomfort altogether. No matter what seat you're using, it's a matter of time before you feel at least some discomfort. Needless to say, with the Mustang it's all totally manageable. The flat and wide base gives you a lot of room to switch positions and relieve pressure. The rider back support is also a godsend. It's not a full-on backrest but it's enough to allow you to lean back to rest your arms and back a little.

*One thing though, this seat adds an inch or so to the seat height compared to stock.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. It's probably the best investment I've made on the bike and something both my wife and I can appreciate (which is a hard thing to do with bike ad-ons).

Great Service and Support

Comments about Mustang Wide Touring Seat:

I wanted to take the time and thank everyone at Bike Bandit for all the help I received in completing this job. It encompassed every system on the bike from the front to the rear and was not an easy chore.

This was a customer bike and had changed hands a few times with each owner leaving his mark on the bike. The current owner wanted it the bike "stripped down to factory specs" with a few improvements for driveability and comfort.

From the huge assortment of OE parts to the extinsive aftermarket support, I was able to get true one stop shopping.

As for the seat, it turned out to be the biggest headache because we could not figure out the true model the bike really was (Yamaha couldnt either!) and my customer was very insistent on putting a factory seat on it.
After many failed attempts at locating the correct factory seat, I talked the owner into giving the Mustang seat a try, and man was he impressed! It is a really good looking, very comfortable seat and a huge improvement over the 10 year old factory seat that was on the bike. He is is 6' 8" and 285 lbs and the Wide Touring Seat fits his frame to a tee. He especially liked the deep cutout in the rider seeat and the way the passenger seat wraps up and over the rider seat. That little feature is great lower back support after a long day in the saddle! Through all the misordered parts the folks at Bike Bandit were always helpful and courteous in getting the wrong part returned and the right part shipped out.

  • Q:

I have a Honda 1998 vt1100c3 and am interested in the Mustang seat. I am 6' tall and weigh 240 lbs.
Will I be cramped on this seat? Will it reduce the amount of legroom I have vs the stock seat?
Also, does the seat accept a removable backrest? I'm trying to decide between the Mustang touring seat and the Corbin solo seat.
