Comments about Nolan N43E Trilogy Solid Open Face Helmet:
It is the most comfortable liner in my experience, no pressure points or ridges. This aft, I put my communicator on/in it. BIG Surprise!!!!! The communicator works better on this Nolan than it ever did on the Shoei! Now I always had good phone reception and audio from the radio or intercom or mp3, but the audio and comfort is improved by the recessed ear cups inside the Nolan helmet liner. No pressure, not even touch, and a few millimeters of air space tween ears and speakers for the sound to fill. The Nolan has a recess in the outside shell with a lift off cap to mount their proprietary communicator. It is all formed and slotted and grooved for their communicator. Well, I popped the cap and mounted my Scala rider back plate (with the helmet adhesive mounting) slightly recessed into their systems recess! Perfect fit, although my system probably sticks out above the helmet surface more than their system would. To achieve this fit; I did remove a triangular notch from the adhesive at the slot for the built in sunshield lever and I cut out a small bridge section in the recess to allow access from inside the helmet to the allen set screws on the backplate. NOW the BEST PART: this Nolan is configured for communication and that means I am much better able to make calls on the phone than I was before. With the chin guard in the helmet, I can make calls at 40-50 mph like I was sitting still in my living room almost! Without the chin guard but only the open helmet with the faceplate down, it is nearly as good at lower speeds and just as good if I hold my left hand at the bottom of the shield below the speaker while at 40-50 or more. This helmet is shaped small-not sized small. There is a difference. It is more compact (outside volume) than my Shoei and after only three days of riding with it, it fits better than my Shoei! Both helmets are Medium. I am tween a medium and a large with helmet sizing and a large just loosens up took much (way) no matter what the brand after I wear it a while. I am better off (much) to get a medium and tweak it and wear it in. I tell you this cause the Nolan with its plush interior is wearing in so much better than any other helmet I have had. I will not have to tweak this one (remove or compress padding, etc.)I am really impressed with the helmet for fit , comfort, functionality as a helmet and NOW (since I decided to make it my daily choice) with its communication readiness!!!!You really owe it to your self to check out one of these "convertibles" as they call them. Oh," how quiet is it?"; you ask? Excellent once again (but remember I have a snug fit) ; if you buy a spin-free loose size (stupid big cause you can't bear to wear it in for a few days), you may experience more road noise. It is quieter about the chin area where the speaker resides. And it is still quiet in the ear area compared to other helmets in my past. It is not light for a helmet but it is not heavy for a convertible. Little wind buffeting to speak of when you turn your head at speed ; very stable that way. But, without the chin guard, it does tend to "lift" at high speeds; that is, there is a pull upward on your head. Chin guard counters that .If you don't have a communicator for phone, music, intercom, radio, gps, etc; then by all means buy Nolan's own system. It should mount easily and exactly without any mods!If you have a Scala Rider like I do; you can modify it like I did (no biggie, but takes a little time and care). The Adhesive backing lets it sit higher than it does on my Shoei using the helmet base clamp; but it sits right in/over the area that the Nolan system is designed to go. The Scala adhesive (3M?) should be good in my application and I have tested it to well over the ton!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Bought a pair for my wife and I. I needed a helmet for communication devices and Nolan is the helmet designed for this. The aerodynamics is great no buffeting no wind noise and a good fit. Bonus with the pin lock shield included. Being able to switch from half helmet to full face is great also fast and simple
