All of Rick’s Rectifier Regulators are brand new parts. Most units are direct replacement pieces and come with the factory plug ends. This allows for an easy install – just unplug your part and plug in Rick's Motorsport Electric Rectifier/Regulator. In some case's, the rectifier/regulator will come with wire leads only and you will need to hard wire it. Some select models have a high performance, heavy duty Hot Shot Series version that are designed with Mosfet technology and do not run as hot as standard designs (as noted).

Comments about Rick's Motorsport Electric Rectifier/Regulator:

Bought Rick's Regulator replacement for my '01 SV650S and soon discovered upon installing that the OEM bolts were too short for his housing. I had to put the tools down, go to [...] and find the correct metric bolt and start all over again. It would be nice if Rick had a notation with his part description stating that longer bolts would be needed. Otherwise, the part seems to be fine.

Comments about Rick's Motorsport Electric Rectifier/Regulator:

After 43 years, the rectifier in my 1969 CB750 Honda began to fail. I figured it would be hard to get replacement parts but I figured wrong!

BikeBandit and Rick's Motorsports Electrics made this a simple and easy fix; an upgrade in fact. The stock system on the old warhorse consists of an exposed diode rectifier and a separate mechanical regulator while Rick's replacement is a one-piece, modern, solid-state MOSFET regulator/rectifier. The new unit came with connectors that plugged directly into the old stock wiring harness.

Bike Bandit's ordering information said that some fabrication would be required for mounting, but it turned out to be simple. A six inch length of 1" aluminum angle stock and a couple of 6mm bolts and nylock nuts were all it took. Once the stock regulator is removed, I bolted the angle to the original mounting points with the original bolts, then mounted the new rectifier to the angle. Fits pefectly under the side cover and the whole installation is so clean it could pass for stock.

          94 VFR R/R replacement

          By Aquarian Messiah

          from Seattle, WA.

          Pros

          • Durable
          • Works better than OEM

          Cons

          • Longer bolts required

          Best Uses

          • Street Riding

Comments about Rick's Motorsport Electric Rectifier/Regulator:

The only weakness on the 94 VFR has been dealt with. Much better heat dissipation due to high mass and cooling fins. Installation requires longer bolts and the fixed 'welded' bolt on the frame had to be removed and replaced with a longer one. The voltage at high revs remains constant at 15.2V while at idle it is at 12.5V. Perfect! As with all R/Rs for this type of bike it is important to set the idle speed to factory spec, in this case 1100 RPMs. DO NOT EXCEED THIS!! If the idle is set too high the extra un-needed voltage/current from the stator must be dumped as heat and this will inevitably result in short life and eventual failure of any R/R.

          Easy Plug-In Replacement

          Verified Buyer

          Pros

          • Easy To Use
          • Plug-and-play

          Cons

          • No instructions

          Best Uses

          • Replacement Part

Comments about Rick's Motorsport Electric Rectifier/Regulator:

The only reason I can't give this a five star rating is because it came sans one output wire, although all the connectors were perfect matches, but had no instructions to explain why this was or whether it mattered. I called BikeBandit to see if that missing wire was important, but while friendly they were unable to help other than offer the name of the manufacturer and offer to take it back. I called the manufacturer who assured me that wire was not necessary (which I had suspected) and I could just "plug-and-play" which I did. The regulator has worked flawlessly, was less expensive than OEM, and took less than five minutes to install on my '86 Suzuki Savage (LS650).
