Comments about Joe Rocket Alter Ego 3.0 Motorcycle Jacket:
Replacing my 3 year old Tourmaster Flex 2 with this jacket. Only had it a week, but for the most part I like it. The outer waterproof (see note later) is great because it's designed to be used alone as a rain jacket if needed. The zippers are well thought out for that use. Only 2 zippers attach the outer to the main jacket... great after the 5 zippers on the Flex 2! The bad news is the waterproof outer jacket leaked at the left inside elbow in my first rain storm. It took about 30 minutes, but water came in [...]. The other problem is too much non-mesh in the inner jacket. Anything black you see in the photos is not mesh. JR should have used black mesh in these areas if it's style the made them do what they did. No such thing as too much mesh on a hot day. It looks like it will be a great 3 season jacket with the addition of my heated liner, just like my old Flex 2.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Not sure what has happened to Joe Rocket Products but the last three item I have purchased have been horrible, this coat was the worst of the three. First month I had it the stitching on the zipper started coming apart, returned it to the Distributor (Sullivans) and had to wait three months for them to fix it. When I got it back there were stains on the outer shell, the distributor told me to have it dry cleaned, I read the cleaning label and called joe rocket who said to not dry clean. Sent it back to again and waited another 6 weeks for them to decide whether or not they were going to replace it. Finally I got a new one and again the stitching was horrible, not coming apart yet (only had this one for 2 months so far) but poorly done with loose strings coming out everywhere, Two days after receiving the new one I was caught in the rain for about 20 min not a heavy rain but rain none the less, the rain went right through the outer shell in minuets, there is nothing waterproof about this item!!! This was the last straw for Joe Rocket for me after having stitching, and waterproof issues with my Nano suit made by Joe Rocket as well I am giving up on them. Their quality is not what it was 10 years ago when I first started buying their items. 6 coats both leather and textile, 2 suits (one being full leather race suits) later, I will never buy again and will never provide good feedback for them.
seems really decent

I look forward to riding season with this coat!!

As a new rider I saw the JR products at a riding class I attended being worn by one of the insructors. Upon deciding I wanted a "MC Jacket" vs. just wearing a long sleeve shirt as required in class. I looked around and came across Bike Bandit.Price and selection appeared among the best I found when considered together.Ended up ordering the Joe Rocket "Alter Ego" and am entirely satisfied thus far. The size was spot on with selection based on the charts at the Rocket web site. The other aspects of the jacket I have yet to fully try as Ive had no need yet to use the fleece inner vest nor the Outer water resistant shell. The various combinations of the 3 pieces will serve the majority of my forseeable riding needs, I think. The "armor" seems abit over the top to me, but hey Im a new rider so what do I know ? In any event in combination with the gunmetal color I chose and the styling, or "cut" of the jacket I am comfortable being seen in it an the knowledge that I have the extra protection helps me to feel a bit more confident in the saddle of my new Can-Am Spyder.Thumbs Up All around !!
