Good bags, but don't hold much.

Comments about Tour Master Elite Saddlebags:
So a little backstory: I purchased a 1982 Yamaha Seca back in 2012, and the seller threw in a set of original yamaha heavy nylon saddlebags. They were in okay shape for their age, but they sure could hold A LOT. I could manage to fit 2 loaves of bread and a half gallon of milk, into just one bag, and still have the other bag free. Now these weren't big bags, and actually their dimensions were only slightly smaller than the ones on these Tourmaster bags. They were just bare bones bags, without any padding, so the outside dimensions, were the same as the inside dimensions. So jump ahead 2 years, and 5000 miles later- and those 32 year old bags were beginning to show their age. I decided to spend the money on new bags, and thought these would be a perfect fit. Well they do fit on my bike nicely, and without having to move my rear turn signals, and in fact take up no more room than my old OEM Yamaha's. But I've found, that even though they are only slightly bigger than my old bags, they hold a lot less. To give you some perspective, a quart bottle of oil barely fits standing up in these bags, and I would say that I could probably fit only 4 or 5 quarts into one bag. I would say that the dimensions listed, are the outside dimensions, and that the quoted 20 liter per side holding capacity, doesn't actually account for the smaller inside dimensions- likely due to the padding on the inside of the bag.Now all in all, these are nice bags, and I will keep them, but if I could've seen these bags in person beforehand I would've passed on them. They look like they will be good for day trips, as long as you don't expect to carry much. I can't imagine trying to do a longer trip with them, and expecting a decent amount of clothes to fit in them. I guess if you pair these bags with the matching Tourmaster Elite tail bag, that you might be able to hold enough for longer trips, and after seeing how these bags are, that's what I'll probably end up doing. As a plus, they DO INCLUDE rain covers for BOTH bags, any listing saying otherwise, is wrong- even the tags on the bags themselves mention that rain covers are included. So at least you don't have to shell out more money for those.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
