Comments about Sena SMH10D-11 Dual Pack Bluetooth Headset Intercom with Mic Kit:

Easy to set up and use. Bike to bike range is much shorter than advertised 900m and pretty much limited to line of sight. Even a small hill or a couple of large cars between units will cause serious interference. Communication gets severely distorted or drops completely around corners. I had a pair of no-name bluetooth intercoms that performed much better range-wise and had comparable sound quality for 1/4 the price.

When in line of sight, bike to bike conversation is OK up to about 110km/h, depending on the bike. This is on par with other units I've tried. After that speed it gets progressively harder to hear and understand the other person. Distance-wise, don't count on being able to talk bike to bike further than few hundred meters, even in ideal conditions (flat desert, no interference or obstructions).

Phone conversations are very clear and my counterpart can't tell I'm on the bike, even at speed. Voice dialing with my Blackberry doesn't work well enough to be useful.

I wouldn't use it to play music. The sound quality is just too poor, even when connected directly through the supplied cable.

The mic/speakers connector is proprietary and positioned in such a way that makes using units other than Sena impossible. Also, Sena cannot be paired with any other BT intercom but their own.

The mounting clamp is solid, but could be more adjustable/adaptable (I barely managed to install it on one of my modular helmets). It should also be smaller (less protruding at the bottom), IMO.

All in all, I think I would have been better off buying a pair of cheap Chinese BT units every other season. I'd have new units all the time and could reuse mic/speakers for multiple helmets. It would take me five to ten years to spend the money I paid for Sena.
