Shift pad wore through in 3 weeks
Comments about Teknic Defender Motorcycle Boots:
I would not buy these boots again. I bought these Teknic Defenders at a M/C show in Feb and within 3 weeks of light riding the shift pad wore completely through. I've had a pair of old engineers boots for over 12 years and a pair of Tour Master Response short boots for around 3 years and they are still holding up well.So I don't think there is anything special about my shift lever or how I shift. There was also a defect on the inside near the zipper that caused a corner to dig into my leg above my ankle. I was able to fix that. After that, they were comfortable and warm. The dealer from the show has been trying to contact Teknic for a couple of weeks with no results.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Good with one exception - maybe a flaw
By Rebel Rider

I would have rated the boots "Excellent" with one exception. On the right boot, on the lateral side (outside-facing relative to the body) of my ankle, a piece of the armor cut sharply into my ankle bone in the soft spot, just up from the heel. At first I thought it was just stiffness of new boots and that it would go away after a little wear. It did not. In fact, at one point on a 4,000 mile trip I nearly dug into them with a knife to cut the part out. In the end I left the boot in tact and just endured the considerable pain, shielding the spot as best I could. The other boot is fine and my ankles are reasonably similar, which leads me to believe there is something wrong with construction of the right boot. It is a disappointing end to an otherwise super pair of boots.
Good, tall, warm Boots

The boots are great looking, and fit well when riding. They hurt my ankles after walking 10 blocks in them though and are very hot to keep on casually. They are definately rain proof. Not to bulky and size 12 fits perfectly for me. Reasonably priced too. They do scuff a little from normal riding.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
