Comments about Fly Tourist Solid Full Face Modular Helmet:

Fit and look is great for the price . Wish the face shields and chin guard stayed on helmet instead of having to take them in my saddle bags.

Comments about Fly Tourist Solid Full Face Modular Helmet:

We make a lot of compromises as riders, mostly regarding how much risk we're willing to assume... so I'm willing to trade the protection of an actual full-face helmet for the MASSIVE field of vision provided by this helmet. It's very light, too - barely more than three pounds, and the ventilation system actually works quite well. Because the face shield drops so low, it is quite prone to fogging - mostly when stopped, which can easily be dealt with by raising the shield until you start moving again; when you're on the move it really isn't much of a problem. An application of RainX (or FogX, if you can find it) to the inside of the face shield helps a lot, or you can just buy the anti-fog shield offered by the manufacturer. The padding on the chin strap is a bit thin, but the strap itself is wider than most so there's not much discomfort there. The breath mask/chin curtain attachment seems to have been such an afterthought that it's not even mentioned in the included owner's manual, which is just as well, as it's so poorly designed as to be completely useless: the upper half is so tall it will obscure your view, and the lower chin curtain restricts the opening so much that the helmet is impossible to put on, unless you remove the chin guard ("jaw") - making the process ridiculously complex. As for wind noise, this helmet doesn't seem to be any noisier than any other I've owned - again, we make certain compromises as riders. Also, it's quite nice to have an extra (tinted!) face shield included in the price. All in all I'm quite pleased with this product.

*A note about sizing: these seem to run a bit small, so if you have any doubts, go for the larger size rather than smaller. I wear a large size Scorpion and a medium Shark; the large size of this helmet fits me quite snugly.

Comments about Fly Tourist Solid Full Face Modular Helmet:

Very happy with this helmet. Came with most everything you would need and more some. Wish the chin was better for protection but anything between my face and the moving road is a bonus. Also surprised how well vented it was. Had no problem keeping my head cool. As for damage protection, well that remains to be seen and I hope to keep it that way.

Does the "removable" jaw piece flip up or can it only be removed?

Thank you for your question. The jaw is removable but does not flip up. The helmet has various methods of setup. Below is a link to a video provided by Fly Racing that shows how to change the helmet style, and remove the jaw piece:
