Comments about Scorpion EXO 1000 Sublim Full Face Helmet:
I have had this helmet for 2 years now and have about 20,000 miles on it. My first point is ventalation: In my opinion it's terrible. The forhead vent is blocked by the inside dropdown sun visor so rite there engeneering is null and void for air flow. The front or chin vent opens at the most 3/16 of an inch and opens towards the wind so air flow gets pushed rite up the outside visor. The vents on top of the helmet provide no airflow at all. I pushed a coat hanger threw them to maybe open the air chamber in the hopes that maybe some of the stuffing was clogging the vent. In fact the vent goes in about 1/2 inch and doesn't even go threw the helmet. Same thing with the back exhaust vent. The smaller side vents I think are just there for looks. Thank God this helmet has sweat absorbent material or on hot days sweat would be dripping in my eyes.Second point: Comfort, I must say despit the lack of venting this helmit is very comfortable from the cheeks to the top to the back, I have ridden for hours and hours at a time and after a while I forget I'm even wearing it it's so comfortable. The inside padding comes out very easy for a wash, being a clean freak I wash it often, that old sweat starts to stink pretty fast.Thirdly: Visability, the first thing I noticed with this helmit is the lack of visibility although not as bad as some helmets. I'm use to a full 180 degree view. I would have to say this helmet is just shy of that. So looking behind you requires a hand off the hand grip to look behind. Living in NY drivers here just about pay no attention to motorcycles so I am always on the look out. This helmet is also pretty heavy being a fiberglass kevlar mix so forcing your self to turn your head 90 degrees can get painfull after a long trip..Saftey: Being a snell approved helmet I know it is a step beyond DOT so I would have to say it would protect good in the event of trauma to the head.In conclusion I wouldn't recomend this helmet for the reason of air flow, I use to live in SoCal and if I had this helmet there I would of gotten rid of it a long time ago. The weather here in NY gets pretty chilly quickly and it is very warm. It looks nice and has a wide veriety of face masks to choose from. Smoked light/dark silver, gold mirror and rainbow mirror. However they are quit costly close to 60 bucks a pop.I also wear ear buds for my music when riding, the inside cheek pump pushes the ear buds into my ears even more giving me great sound.
