Shinko designed the 230 Tour Master tire to carrying high loads for long distances -in wet or dry weather. The staggered tread design and Aramid belted construction add great handling and ride comfort. All this at a price that leaves money in your pocket.

High Expectations But Poor Performance
By ScottyJ

I ride a 2010 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Nomad and I log a good amount of miles, over 35K in the less than two years that I've had the bike, so I am always looking for good tires at a good price. I found the Shinko 230 Tour Master Front Tire for a good price on Bike Bandit, applied my AMA discount, used my bonus bucks, and had the tire shipped to my Kawasaki dealer. I had high expectations given the fact that this tire is billed as "carrying high loads for long distances in wet or dry weather."Initially, the tire worked fine and the bike handled fine. Unfortunately, that was short-lived as, before long, the tire started showing a lot of wear. I thought maybe I had been running too much pressure but the wear was not only in the middle but across most of the center of the tire. The tire became crested in the middle as well, so that handling became downright scary. Three months to the date, I order a new OEM Bridgestone tire from Bike Bandit and replaced the Shinko with a little over 5000 miles on it. I know this tire has worked well for some but for me it was a bust.
Amazing difference

(on a 99' Kawasaki Vulcan vn800 - bobber)I can't say how the wear is as I have only put about 500 miles on them. I changed from Metzler 880's to these tires and I can say there is a drastic difference. The Metzlers to me felt a little sluggish when turning and leaning, the Shinko's on the other hand feel as if they want to turn on their own. I used to work to get my peg to reach the ground in a corner and now I wonder when I'll have to replace my pegs. Great tires for the price, would definately buy again (as long as they wear well)
Great Buy for The Money

Had Bridgestone on the bike when i bought it with 4,000 miles on it and had to replace tires. Put Shinko 230's on it and got 12,000 miles on them. wnext set was put on and they put bridgestone back on and have less than 8,000 miles on them and you can see the nylon in the rear tire. Ordered some more Shinko's this time. Should arrive on wednesday and will get to ride on thursday. Well pleased with the wear of these tires.
