Comments about Avon AM44 Distanzia Dual Sport Motorcycle Tire:

Got 14,000 miles out of my 130/80-17" Distanzia. Ride a 2004 KLR-650 and I weigh 190 lbs (probably 200 with gear). Mostly street riding (110 miles commute - round trip daily). Tire also rides very well on sand, gravel and dirt roads. Just put on a Shinko 705 and love it so far. The Distanzia is a great tire...probably the best dual sport tire (unless you do A LOT of off road driving) but at [$] it is very pricey. A 705 has very comparible tread pattern and is exactly 1/3 the price ($53). So for someone like me who mounts and balances my own tires at home (use a home made static balancer and get no vibration at all) the Shinko 705 appears to be better bang for the buck (if I get over 4700 miles out of the shinko it will be like money in the pocket). However if you are paying a shop $20 to $50 to replace your tire then you're better off with the Distanzia since you'll pay shop fees much less often.

      • Q:

I am replacing my rear tire on my 2007 suzuki drz400sm. The one coming off is a Dunlopsportmax d208140/70r17. Front tire is a match to this so I want the replacement to be fairly close in style and performance. Need a tube also, what do you reccomend?
