Avon Cobras are Responsive and Quiet

    By 99 Valkyrie Rider

    from Campbell, CA

Comments about Avon AV72 Cobra Motorcycle Tire:

The Avon Venom tires on my 1999 Valkyrie Interstate performed well and delivered over 13000 miles. I might have stayed with the Venoms if they were still available even though they were noisy from day one. After evaluating many options I decided on new Avon Cobra radials. Now, with an initial 500 miles of mixed back road and highway driving I believe this was a good decision. I can't speak for longevity yet, but these tires are light handling, corner well (I'm not aggressive), and are nearly silent. Seriously, these tires are quiet. The ride is controlled but firm, as you would expect when running 40 psi front and rear. Wet road and loaded touring performance have yet to be experienced. She's not a Wing but still runs about 800 pounds ready for the road so how the Cobras perform under load is important. I'd recommend these to any GL1500 Valkyrie riders out there.

Great Tires for my 09 Fat Bob...

Comments about Avon AV72 Cobra Motorcycle Tire:

In New England our season is relatively short. We ride hard and frequent averaging 14K miles over our season on all kinds of road surfaces (including dirt, gravel etc).

Compared with the stock tires that came with my ride the Avons are a breath of fresh air... A welcome improvement in the rain, tread wear, cornering & cupping on the front tire.

This is my second set & I'm staying with them!!!

Best tires I've had on my Fat Bob

Comments about Avon AV72 Cobra Motorcycle Tire:

First set other than stock Dunlops on my Fat Bob... Going into curves is genuine pleasure as these tires have a natural tendancy to turn when you begin to lean into it.

If I get the milage from these that I got from the Dunlops I'll never use anything else. I average at least 10K per season... Keeping my fingers crossed & miles of smiles are on the way again.

          Stay safe out there!

Comments about Avon AV72 Cobra Motorcycle Tire:

Just put second set of these on '98 Valkyrie, cost and wear major factors. Put 15k on this tire, it's worn but not total endlife yet. Good ride in all road conditions up to icey(don't try it myself). Never had a corner slip.

Thanks for your question! The original rim size is an 18", so the only option would be for a 250/40-18. You would need to measure if you have the clearance to go any larger.
