    NEW TIRES FOR THE FALL

    By Lloyd the uneasy rider

    from Oceanside, Ca

Comments about Dunlop D401 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Tire:

Placed the new Dunlop 402 on the front and then notice the rear needed replaced too! So placed a Dunlop 401 on the back of my 2003 Night Train and forgot what it felt like to ride on new skins! The tire is great for my type of riding and with the rain season approaching, I could not think of a better time here in Southern California where we ride all year round!

Comments about Dunlop D401 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Tire:

I just ordered my third rear tire. My scoot came stock with these, and I've had such a great ride I'm reluctant to switch. My wife found a cheaper tire for her bike (07 Vstar 1100) and has a horrible time keeping traction when it is wet out. I do ride 2up probably 50% of the time with my daughter who adds an extra 130lbs. I feel this is why I don't get more than 6.5k miles out of the rear.

Thank you for your question. No the Dunlop 491 has a higher load index. Dunlop 401 is a good all around tire, wet or dry surfaces. Both are outstanding tires.

I have a 2002 FCI Road King Classic. I need to replace both tires. I want wide white walls. I currently have a Dunlop MTB16 72 H on the front and a Metzler 140/90 B16 MC 77H on the rear. What are the best replacement tires for my bike. My friend put Shinko tires on his Road King and is happy with them. Are they a good choice/value?

        • A:

the F stands for Front tire and if you have a spoked wheel then you will need a tube. my understanding is that you cannot use a tube in a tubeless tire or a a tubed tire without a tube. i ride a superglide and i use a d401, great tire.

This is the exact tire I purchased from a dealer, however, they added a tube (5.00x16 SMv) and a Rim Strip (16"side). Do I need these 2 additional items?

        Thanks

          A:

Thanks for the questions! We sell just the tire alone. The rim strips and tube are sold separately. Just type in "Rim strips" in the search bar. The tubes you will find in the "Tires and Tube" tab under the search bar.
