Metzeler’s value-priced, championship-winning dirt tires have excellent durability, handling, and traction. Metzeler's tread design uses small knobs that are able to penetrate harder soil, combined with paddle-type knob position for good traction on loose soil. The reinforced shoulder knobs give excellent grip under full lean and the soft center area of tire provides good damping properties and feedback. The front tire features widely spaced center knobs for good braking performance. The rear tire uses solid center knobs in a row and intersected knobs in shoulder area for good traction on loose soil or sand. Reinforced shoulder knobs allow controllable slides.

Comments about Metzeler MC 5 Motorcycle Tire:

I used this tire a couple of times now. I like the traction this tire gives, also side traction. My friends don't like the tire because of all the dirt that goes on them. Also it was easy to install.

Comments about Metzeler MC 5 Motorcycle Tire:

I put this tire, 80/100-21 MC5, on the front of a built XR250R after reading and hearing some positive comments. I'm riding hard pack roads with rock and gravel, logging roads and grass tracks with varying trails. This tire works very well everywhere for me and after 100 hard miles shows very little sign of wear.
Have an MC4 rear and very happy with the combo.

My current tire size on rear is 4.50-18-70M. What is the equivalent to this? Its going on a 1978 Yamaha IT400E dirt Bike

Thanks for your question! A 120-90-18 would be the closest match for that size provided.
