Comments about Michelin Pilot Activ Motorcycle Tire:

This is the second set I am putting on my Triumph Thruxton. 100/90-18 front and 130/80-17 rear. Original OEM Lasertecs were OK in my opinion but I would not get them again. Then came Pirelli Sport Demons and then Avon Roadriders, which proved a total fiasco (seems like it's particularly so on a Thruxton for some reason), and then I got my first pair of Pilot Activs.

These are wonderful tires all-around, dry and wet. They warm up fast and feel rather sporty. It's a bias ply tire with radial performance and cornering. My first pair lasted close to 7K miles!! I ride a mix of freeways, twisties, and city in all weather conditions all year round. In California here it translates to temperatures from 30F to 100F. Great performance everywhere. At 7K the front was cupping a bit and cornering required more effort with a pronounced "edge" when leaning into turns but there was still thread left and it was rideable. I just changed both anyway. These tires do not scallop badly either (unlike, say, Conti Road attacks -- maybe I'll review those separately; had them on my Guzzi V11).

Very highly recommended for SPORTY all-day riding, commuting, and sport-touring. Great value, too, especially when on sale here at Bike Bandit -- I got a pretty ridiculous deal on Cyber Monday.

Another popular bias-ply choice for tricky sizes is Pirelli Sport Demon, which in my experience were great save for half the longevity and wet performance, where Activ excels. They are stickier though, so if that's what you're after without concern for thread life -- go for the Demons.

Comments about Michelin Pilot Activ Motorcycle Tire:

I bought these tires to replace the origional equipment tires on a 1981 Honda CB 750 Supersport. After changing them I simply could not get them to seat all the way around the rim.Took them to a shop and they also had a difficult time seating them to the rim. Had to heat them up to get them to finally seat. Probably a great tire but hard to install.

        Michelin Pilot Activ Rear Tire

Comments about Michelin Pilot Activ Motorcycle Tire:

Hi ; Based on the performance of my current Michelin Pilot Activ tire...mileage 34,300 miles...not much thought went in to purchasing another Michelin Pilot.
I continue to drive on the tire with only the beginning of cupping and plan to continue using this tire part of the summer.
Great product. I highly recommend this tire as a front tire for any model of trike .

          • Q:

I am considering Michelin Pilot Activ tires for my 1982 BMW R65. The owner's manual says I should use a 4.00-10 on the rear wheel and the Michelin fitment chart says I should use a 120/90-18. What is the difference and which should I use? I plan on using a 90/90-18 on the front.

Thanks for your question! Unfortunately we do not have tire size information for your machine. We do not carry parts for this brand machine so we would not have tire fitment information offered to us. You may want to check with a local dealer or the internet for the correct size.

I have a 2008 kawasaki ex 500, and of all the michelin tires i have chosen they either have the front, or the rear in the right size, but not both. I am wondering if it would be ok to run the michelin pilot activ for the rear and a michelin pilot road 3 in the front?

The front tire is an ME33 with the the markings on that tire are an MJ-90-19-H. What does the MJ in metric size mean? I like the Michelin Pilot Activ but am not sure what size to put on the front.
