Comments about Visu-Filters In-line Fuel Filter:
I owned and ran a motorcycle shop from 1997 until 2006. We were a franchised GasGas dealer, Smackover Motor Sports. Due to the unique relationship between the fuel petcock outlet nipple to the carburetor fuel inlet nipple on GasGas dirt bikes, there was very little room for a fuel filter. To accomplish this without kinking the fuel line while using a "straight shot" fuel filter, the GasGas factory installed a metal "spring shield" around the fuel line. I tried many different methods of routing the fuel line to alleviate this problem, but nothing worked as desired. Around 2002, I dedicated one whole Indianapolis Powersports Expo trip to locating a fuel filter with a 90 degree configuration that would fit our needs. None of the vendors at the Expo made such a filter, but the representatives of Plastonics Inc were interested in what I had to say. (Plastonics Inc make the Visu-Filters.) Three months after the Expo, a Plastonics rep called me and said they were sending me some samples to try. This filter (and the one like it, except with the plastic mesh element) were the results of our collaboration. The filter fit our application perfectly, and has helped me install a fuel filter in several other motorcycle and atv models which were a very tight fit for conventionally configured fuel filters. As a plus, this fuel filter is the same quality as the rest of the "industry standard" Visu-Filter products. It fits all standard 1/4" fuel hose perfectly and also lets me visually check for debris in the filter body.A+++

Product leaked. The seam in the filter leaked fuel. But Bike bandit was great and returned.

The info listed on the website for the 3/16" filter (24975 in the shopping cart) is rather incomplete. Here's some more info to to help those who are interested. The specs can be found on the Visu-filter website, which is part of ITW. Part No.: Part No. 8443-XX-9909 (FF901C)Hose Barb Size: ¼"Fuel Line Recommendation: 3/16"Flow Rate (gal/hr) w/ 3 ½" Fluid Head: 3.2Average Micron Rating: 60Component MaterialsHousing: Clear PET (E-85 compatible)Filter Media: Stainless Steel MeshCap: Clear PET (E-85 compatible)I purchased this filter to catch the sediment which was clogging the idle jet in my 175cc dirt bike. I have not yet installed the filter, but I wanted to pass along this additional info. I am hoping that the 60 micron filtration capacity will be sufficient to filter out the sediment. I also purchased the Helix hose clamps to go along with this filter. They are a good accessory.
