i was looking for cruise control on my VTX 1800R and this seems to be the right item.

Took a weekend trip into Arkansas. By the time I got back home my forearm was tired from holding the throttle open for hours. After getting the throttle assist I've tried it out and seems to do a good job

I have purchased Kuryakyn products before & found them to be well manufactured, durable and reasonably priced.

Good name in accessories, the product works great. A little bit of filing on the mounting clamp to clear the wire bundle for the brake and kill switch. Nice for the longer interstate hauls when you want to switch hands a bit. It does not "lock" the throttle, you can roll it on or off and disengage after any event that needs a quick throttle adjustment.

I thought it looked like a good item to add on to my bike. Throttle assist is good for longer rides.

What is the measurement on the width of the part that clamps to the handlebar?
A shopper on Jun 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! The manufacture only provides the diameter of the clamp which is 1-1/8" to maximum 1-3/4" outside diameter. They do not provide the width of the actual bracket. slim ivan on Sep 18, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. First measure the outer diameter of your throttle grip. If the outer diameter is 1 1/8"- 1 3/4" the Universal Econo Throttle Assist will work for your bike. I like this product for my older 96 motorcycle.
It’s awesome to give your throttle hand and arm a break here and there.

Could not get it to work on my bike. After adjusting the clamp tight enough to hold the throttle in place, the throttle would not return on it's own when released.

Kinda works
Although my Handel bars fall within the required measures it seems like I need a med to large rubber ring. The control will grip the throttle but still slides causing deceleration. But if I tighten it any further the throttle will stick open when the control is not engaged. Also the thin (large) rubber boot provided tends to come off and the tightening screws are almost all the way through. But the Med ring provided is too large to fit appropriately.

Great product
This is a really great thing to have on long trips; add this with a throttle boss for your grips and you have a great overall package for long rides. 1100 miles for my first trip with this and had no issues.

Not Right For Me
First off the product is well-built and overall I thought the quality appeared to be very good. However, during installation I had to move my brake reservoir/mirror assembly about a half inch toward the center of the handlebar. This was to allow the throttle assist to be clamped to the handlebar between the reservoir and cutout switch housing. I did not want to smash the cutout switch cables by mounting the clamp too close to the housing. Essentially, this shifted my front brake handle to the left, and I did not feel comfortable gripping my brake handle; also, my right mirror was shifted left, but this was not too bothersome. On another bike, this product could be great.

I don't want to bash the product, but it did not work for me, so I will give it three stars. It didn't work for me, but it could work quite well for another, with that said I would recommend the product.
