690 Duke has a high compression single that requires lots of oomph from the starter. The original sealed lead acid batter was just able to provide the juice to do this and even the slightest discharge resulted in the need to jump.

I see a need for a special charger for lithium but, how does a motorcycle's charging system handle lithium batteries? If I ride regularly, will the bike keep the lithium battery charged?
A shopper on Feb 15, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for the question! Yes, most bikes are capable of running lithium batteries, as long as your bike's charging system charges between 13.4v and 14.6v you should be good. I would like to say I love it, but. The reason I bought this battery was because my old battery was 5 years old and as long as I rode my bike consecutively it charge, but if I didn't ride for 3 days or more I would have to charge it. I put the new battery in, checked the voltage and all was good. So I went for a ride and got about 9 miles and the bike started to skip badly on and off. So I went home and after I shut the bike off it didn't have enough voltage to start it again. And I tried to charge the battery on a charger and it won't charge. But due to work I have not had time to get my bike to the shop to have it checked out. I now wish I had bought a much cheaper battery, $140.00 down the drain.

Bad battery
First of all just like the Bike Bandit said, this battery isn't good for any extra auxiliary equipment on you bike, such as running lights, GPS, and heated grips. That wasn't explained when I got the battery. Then when it went dead it would not even take a charge. Not worth it !! Buuy a good Yuasa battery.
