It has the same terminal connectors and polarity as the stock Yuasa battery. It also ships with foam to make up for the smaller size.

How are lithium batteries for places like Minnesota? I'm interested in riding trouble free in April and into the upper 30 and low 40 temps. I hear lithium is not good in cooler weather.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for the question! Some lithium batteries will go dormant in the winter after a fair amount of time without using them. However, you can fix this by "waking them up" a few different ways.
You can do this a few ways:
1. Turn on the headlights for a few minutes- until they are bright
2. Hold the horn button for a few minutes- until it sounds normal
3. Cycle the fuel pump 10-15 times, until it sounds normal

So to answer your question, they are great batteries, but it also depends on how often you ride and if you will be able to take care of it. We hope this helps. Very dissapointing performance
Will not start below 40-45 degrees Fahrenheit. You'll be waiting 5+ minutes for it to start and even then, it's a gamble. I've been stranded twice by this batter and regret purchasing it. Stick to lead acid if you don't live in the tropics

Light weight, impressive cranking power!
I was purchasing a replacement battery for my track bike and opted for the Shorai for its light weight. The weight savings with this battery are nothing short of amazing! But I'm just as impressed by its cranking power. I had some fuel issues coming out of winter storage, and this featherweight battery cranked through dozens of starts with no signs of weakening. Truly impressive!

so far so good
installed in a 2009 Yamaha FJR. battery is smaller and way lighter than original but using the enclosed foam pads the fit is good. bike turns over really fast now and starts instantly. The original yuasa AGM battery lasted 8 years! We will see how long this battery lasts. seems like a very good choice.

I bought the Shorai charger also. It topped off the battery in 20 minutes. It fit right in with no modifications to the cables. My Kawasaki 1,200 cc started in 2 seconds with a fast spinning starter. It was so much lighter and half the size as well.

Heads up bikers...this is the future of bike batteries!
I've had 2 Shorai batteries in two of my bikes for over two years now. What a world of improvement over lead-acid clunkers! These batteries are so small and lightweight that you will use most of the spacing pads included. I live in Florida with warm temperatures and sometimes my three bikes sit for weeks before I ride one of them. Hit the starter button and the engine nearly jumps out of the frame cranking up! I bought the special Shorai battery charger as insurance, but I rarely have to use it. When a bike sits in the garage, the charger restores it's level in minutes as opposed to long hours for lead-acid chargers. Only the test of time now will prove their value. I have never gotten more than 3-4 years service life out of any lead-acid battery with excellent care and they will quickly leave you stranded on the roadside when they crap out on you. If these new lithium batteries last longer than that, I will be a lifetime customer. Yeah they cost more, but you get what you pay for. I want the best for my bikes and Shorai has not disappointed me since. Eventually every bike manufacturer is going to design small battery containers on future bikes to contain these superior masterpieces and we all will benefit from the results. Lead-acid is DEAD...Long live Shorai with a prosperous future!

These are awesome
Have put these on multiple bikes and love them. They have a excellent warranty as I have tested that one out. They got me a replacement battery fast and were great to work with. Highly suggest getting the maintainer as well.

excellent battery
Much smaller and lighter than original equipment batteries. I have a Shorai battery in my Triumph Speed Triple, Hayabusa, and Suzuki Bandit 1250S and they have performed flawlessly in all seasons since I bought the first battery several years ago. Since it is much smaller you will have to use the included foam panels to make the fit tight in the battery compartment but it is very easy to do and takes very little time. The motorcycles start instantly. I have not experienced any downside to these batteries at all.

Very dependable
This is my third Shorai battery, one for each of the motorcycles. My experience is that they are quite dependable. I have not experienced failure to start or need to charge one in the several years since I bought the first one though I live in an exceptionally hot climate here in east Texas. They are very small and light weight. The OEM batteries are always much larger and heavier, but the material provided in the box creates a tight fit in the battery compartment with no difficulty. I have not experienced any negatives about the battery and anticipate the one I recently purchased will provide years of reliable service.
