BikeMaster Switches (Universal)
It’s something we don’t really like talking about, but as a motorcycle driver, you must make safety a top priority. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the motorcyclist is on the losing end of most accidents with card, trucks and just about everything else on wheels. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 5,000 people died in motorcycle accidents during 2015, a number that is more than eight percent higher than the 2014 total. Another 88,000 motorcyclists were injured in crashes that year.
Not all accidents are deadly, however. Some are just riding accidents that knock the wind out of you or give you a scratch or two. Like the time you were cruising the back country and got separated from your ATV (or dirt bike) when a tree branch swept you off the bike. Unfortunately, your ride had the throttle set at “keep going” and didn’t stop until it crashed into the boulder 100 yards down the trail.
Admit it. Everyone has a story similar. Some ended happily ever after, others ended even worse than above. It can be avoided by adding a simple switch to your ride: a kill switch. BikeMaster switches (universal) offer two types of kill switches: One that connects directly to your motorcycle or dirt bike electrical system; and one that includes a tether kill switch.
Kill switches are all about safety; they are required if you’re into racing. Simply put, a kill switch kills the engine. It turns the engine off. BikeMaster switches (universal) perform this simple act when you fall off, get knocked off, or simply lay your ride over while waiting for the traffic signal to turn green light (that happens, too.)
The kill switch keeps your ride from running away. BikeMaster kill switches feature:
- Direct connection, via a plug, your wiring harness.
- Easy installation: No need to splice or cut wires; you can put this on your motorcycle or dirt bike yourself without damaging any wires.
- Universal size: they’re made to fit 7/8” handlebars.
