If i am wanting it to use as a isolation switch as sorts so it wont start when i hit the start button what type would i need?
Thoams P on Sep 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hello Thoams, you would need a normally closed switch type for your Yamaha. I have also attached a universal switch that you might be able to rig up and not have so many items on your handle bars. I'm thinking you can remove the starter button and replace is with the Trail Tech Motorcycle Handlebar Kill Switch, on that switch there is a push button and a toggle. The push button can be used as the starter button and the toggle was intended for a light but you can use that as an on/off switch. Just a thought.

Could be better
Install went smoothly. Having the manual with a wiring diagram helped. Had to be careful with the install of the switch. If the bracket doesn't fit the bar exactly the switch barrel can distort and bind the switch. Had to relocate the switch several times. Had to lubricate the switch to eliminate binding so the switch would operate properly. You will need to test this regularly to make sure its clean and functioning.
