National Cycle Polycarbonate Windshield

Product Details

This fork-mounted windshield is made from durable, high-impact acrylic. It comes with chrome fork mounts and flush fit counter-sunk hex bolts and measures 9" high from the top of headlight cutout. The Flyscreen® will give your bike a dragster look -whether you're headed for the quarter-mile strip or the local boulevard. It looks great on custom cruisers, muscle bikes, and performance machines alike. The clean, minimal appearance and chrome trim plate will enhance the look of any motorcycle. The quality Linking Arm fork mount system with countersunk screws offers a custom fit for motorcycles with open front forks.

High impact acrylic merges the crystal clarity of acrylic with an impressive impact resistance. A standardized IZOD plastic test compares standard acrylic to high impact acrylic: standard acrylic breaks at 1.5 foot pounds, while high impact acrylic can withstand up to 8 foot pounds. National Cycle uses the best material for the product design and price range. DOT / ABE approved.

National Cycle's included Linking Arm hardware provides adjustment of both width and rake angle and has a high quality, polished chrome billet appearance.

Looking for a small windshield. Looks nice just hope it blocks wind and bugs.

I choose the flyscreen for its low profile and the easy installation.

How does this Flyscreen mount on a 2005 Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic? The headlight is not mounted by bolts at the sides of the headlight (as shown in your product photo) and the fork legs have flimsy tapered sleeves over them between the triple clamps (a photo sent in by a customer shows a mounting system for another bike using clamps on the fork legs). Can you verify that the hardware will indeed fit on the "Classic" model of a 650 V-Star?

BEST ANSWER: I bought this Flyscreen and will answer my own question. This Flyscreen can be mounted to a 2005 V-Star 650 Classic by using the National Cycle Heavy Duty Windshield mounting kit for the Classic. The mounting kit is made to fit on the tapered fork covers and provides a sturdy attachement system. The kit has to be purchased separately. It all bolts together easily; there will be parts left over and one hole on the mounting kit will remain empty and partially visible; two other holes that weren't used were filled with supplied bolts. You will need to purchase two 8mm x 1.25 cap nuts at a hardware store since the kit nuts are welded to pieces you won't be using. I had to bend the clutch cable guide that is attached to the bottom triple clamp slightly in order for the mounting hardware to clear. It looks good to me; I'll try to post photos in a review.
It says this will fit a 2015 Triumph thunderbird commander, which has a twin headlight. The picture shows a single headlight. Is the picture inaccurate? Or is the part number wrong?

BEST ANSWER: Hello Dale, thanks for the question! After reviewing the fitment for the National Cycle Flyscreen Windshield, Unfortunately, it will not fit your 2015 Triumph Thunderbird Commander. You show the National Cycle Flyscreen will fit a 1997 Triumph Thunderbird. When I checked with the manufacturer (National Cycle) they tell me it will not fit my bike. Do you know something they don't ?
Thanks, Mark

Mounting Hardware

Does this windshield come with mounting hardware. If not, please funish necessary information. Also, does the height allow me to ride without a face shield. If not, then please advise with your recommendation.
I am trying to stay away from the aggravation of semi's creating a loss of control on the Interstate.and still keep good profile for my 1998 XL883.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Warmest regards,

BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question BadCo
from Floyd,Va! When you order this shield here this is going to come with the mounting parts, this would mount directly to your forks, this should would offer coverage from the wind but you may be forced to tuck down a bit to completely miss the wind.

Nice wind screen upgrade
Got this mounted on my s40. it looks great and does a nice job deflecting wind from my neck down at road speeds, Very well made mounting brackets with lots of adjustment for tilt, This is hard to beat for the $$$. Down side is the instruction's are not very good, most anyone that has a medium level of mechanical understanding would have no problem with this install, my time for install was about one hour, taking my time. I would buy again.

First F-15 then Flyscreen
This is how it is Lucy. I started with the National F-15 because I liked the way it looked on the Bandit web site. I have a 2002 Suzuki SV650 and since the bike is a baby Rocket, a mini fairing would be nice. The windscreen was here the next day...GREAT service guys! But oh no, it looked more like a full-on cruiser screen; so I sent it back. A week passed and they sent it right bach to me...I'm not happy. By now my blood preasure has gone down so I installed it. It was not what I wanted and I hated it.I ordered the National Flyscreen because it is fitting for the riding I do. Very good product and I love it. Out in the yard, I sprayed the F-15 with lighter fluid; it burns very nice and colorful.

I have modified my 2005 V-Star 650 Classic with low bars and foot controls moved rearward, and wanted a shield to knock off the wind to my chest. I bought the National Cycle Heavy Duty Windshield mounting kit for my bike since there appeared to be no other way to mount the Flyscreen to the tapered fork covers. It all worked out; see the photos. I had to buy two 8mm x 1.25 cap nuts at a hardware store and I had to bend the clutch cable guide slightly to clear the tapered mounting plates. I don't look through the shield so the distortion due to the curvature of the Flyshield is not a problem. The Flyshield and the mounting kit are both high quality products. Take your time adjusting the angle of the mounts on the forks to match the angle of the Flyscreen arms. Tighten the screen bolts last after everything is in a neutral, stress free arrangement. I put thread lock blue on every fastener to be sure they didn't come loose.

Too Cute To Ignore.
I was on the computer, way too late one night, when I saw this item. It looked so cool that I just had to buy it. Unfortunately, when it arrived I quickly realized my mistake. I called my house mate out to the garage where I placed the bug screen (temporarily) atop the headlught of my 2002 Kawi Mean streak. We both had a good laugh. I am confident, given the quality and low price I paid for the item, that it will be an easy sell to someone for whose machine it is meant.

Great Look, and No more bugs in face!
It was hard to find a windshield that fit my 1990 Honda Hawk NT650, as the handle bars are not your average kind. I love the look and the chrome side parts are a plus. Friends even say it looks great. My only real con is that the instructions are mostly written out, and I am a very visual person, so bigger or more clearer pictures would have been nice. Once you get the jist of it, an very easy install. The picture presented is a little misleading though, as it hooks to the forks, not the head light bracket, at least for my bike. My friend has the same bike, and loved the look. So definitley a winner for the Honda Hawk NT650. [...]
