Bandit Tested feat. Shoei RF - 1200 helmet w/ Aaron Shoei RF-1200 Helmet Review SHOEI Helmet Production

Product Details

Since its introduction with the RF-105, SHOEI’S RF series has evolved through significant changes as a leading sport model helmet. Years of development, wind tunnel testing and on-track rider feedback have contributed greatly to this model’s growth, and it is with great pride and confidence that we present the SHOEI RF-1200®. One of the most important features of a quality helmet is that you hardly know it’s there protecting your head. SHOEI has reduced the weight of the RF-1200 by using a slimmer design and building a distinct line into the side of the helmet that also serves as an accent. As a result, the new SHOEI RF-1200 is lighter than any other Snell certified helmet in the current SHOEI lineup.

I’ve had the RF1100 for 7 years, decided to get the new RF1200. Nice Helmet a little snugger than I remember my 1100 being when it was new. But overall Great Helmet.

Helmet review
Their price was very good.
The helmet is great and better than the current RPHA 10 I have. Both are bright yellow, size small. The Shoei fits better all around, has better venting and a thicker visor. It fogs vey little, if at all, in the cold weather and I have not use the pinlock at all. I'm not sure how it will be at high speeds and longer rides, but see no reason not to think it will not be a great, light helmet. I had to take out the cheek pads and soften them up, since it was too tight at first.

typical Shoei
this is my second helmet from Shoei and won't be my last. Unfortunately the weather here has kept me from putting on many miles, the fit and finish are great and it is very quiet. Will be showing it off to my riding friends

This helmet is very quiet with the front mouth vent closed!
The anti-fog shield works great, even when the face shield and mouth vent are closed...only my sunglasses fog up when I stop!! The fit is somewhat tighter than the RF-1100, but I prefer the snug fit of the RF-1200 as well as the added Snell 2015 features.

Another fantastic Shoei helmet!

Red Shine RF-1200
Most of my 45+ yrs. motorcycling have been on dirt. I am a newbie to adventure bike travel, recently purchasing a R100GS. Have not had a chance to use the RF-1200 yet, but plan to use it for travel on secondary hi-ways and bi-ways in the Northwest. I wanted a full face, Snell approved helmet that fit my oval head shape. After reading a lot of comments and reviews I decided to order the RF, which was at the upper end of my price limit. Bike Bandit softened me up with a 10% discount. The fit, finish, materials (exception below) and color are great. It fits my melon so much better than the RJ Air I also own. I did get the thinner cheek pads, the pads that came with the helmet were too tight. Hey no comments about a fat head! The original pads pinched my face and were uncomfortable, the 31mm pads fit a lot better, and were simple to replace. However, came at an extra cost of $45, there goes the BB 10% discount! IMHO, Shoei could make some concession to allow the customer to get a helmet that properly fits without another $45 expense. I also replaced the chin strap covers. The ones that came with the helmet are too short and made of a cheesy fuzzy material. I replaced them with a set for Shoei's VFX-W helmet chin strap covers. Don't recall the cost on those, but they were inexpensive. They are longer and cover more of the strap and are made of what appears to be, a much better/durable material. The replacement process was also a simple process. All in all, a nice helmet at a reasonable price considering 1.) it fits and 2.) BB's discount. I thought that the on-line order and delivery were handled without a hitch by Bike Bandit.

Quality Helmet
Was looking for a quality helmet that fit good and this one fit better than any helmet I have owned. I was disappointed though by the amount of wind noise which is louder than other helmets I have owned. Overall I like it but good earplugs are required.

Used Shoei Helmets for years. RF-800 and RF-900 have given me good service. I'll stick with what I know. Shoei may be pricey but they produce an incredible product.
