Firstgear Kathmandu Motorcycle Jacket
To give a good review I felt I need to wear it for awhile. I purchased Firstgear Kathmandu Motorcycle Jacket in May of 2013 it's now October 2018. I've put over 20,000 miles on the jacket, and it has held up quite well. In the fall of 2013 I road from California to Nebraska. I rained from Wendover Nevada to Cheyenne Wyoming. Then the next day the rain stopped outside of Kearny Nebraska. The jacket keep me warm and dry. The only issue I have with the jacket, is some of the material inside the sleeve has come loose, in 2014 but a small matter It's been washer many times and still preforms wall.

Jacket & Pants fit
Just got my jacket and pants. Thought I would post my size to help others. I'm 6' 190 lbs. I wear a 36 x 32 pants. I got the large jacket and the 36 regular pant. The jacket fits closely with the thermal liner in, all the pads are in the right place, sleave length is spot on. The overpants fit slightly loose with pants on, length is perfect.

Overall the quality is high, nice to have jacket and pants from the same manufacturer. I like the suspenders. Can't wait to go on a ride and try it out.

Nice, functional jacket
After careful shopping and some advice from friends, I bought the Kathmandu for general dual sport riding and commuting. I have tried probably a dozen other jackets, and was almost ready to cough up the cash for a Klim Badlands or Aerostitch Darien. I'm glad I decided to go with the Kathmandu.

Pros: Plenty of pockets that are easy to use. The fit was spot-on. I'm 5'9" and 180lbs., bought a Large, and it fits great. Jacket is warm with the liner in. Wearing nothing more than a t-shirt underneath, I rode an hour in upper-40F temps and was perfectly warm. So far the jacket seems waterproof as advertised, but I've only tried it in a short light rain. Great, comfortable armor, which I can't even feel while wearing the jacket. Last but not least, the entire jacket is very comfortable. No break-in is required and it doesn't feel stiff or hard to move around in.

Cons: In 80+ F temps, the Kathmandu is too warm even with all the vents open. Having said that, any non-mesh jacket would probably be too warm. There is no catch to hold the collar open, and consequently it flaps around if the jacket is unzipped a bit. Finally, there are no hand warmer pockets, and that's really the reason why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. On a cold afternoon standing around with friends, it would be nice to have those pockets.

All-in-all, I really, really like this jacket. My friends have had Firstgear jackets for years, and I plan to get the same amount of usage out of this one.

Firstgear Kathmandu Jacket- good stuff!!
Needed a 3 season jacket. Being tall (6' 4") and having previously purchased an XL Tall Firstgear mesh jacket (that fits well) decided to try the Kathmandu. Same good fit (wish more cycle clothing companies provided Talls)and good quality I had with the mesh one. So far seems to have quite an extended temp range for comfort. Have yet to ride in the rain (we shall see on that one).

Only things I would change-- First, I see other brands that have made the liner be a stand alone jacket-- the Kathmandu does not which lessens the versatility. Second, I agree with many others who think that the hydration pack is a little hokey. Third, would be nice to have front pockets for ones hands.
