I currently have a 3.00-S21 on my 1984 XT600 and I would like to know if this is a suitable replacement? I mostly ride on the street and I want a tire that's about 80/20 street to dirt.
Also I have spoke rims an would need to install a tube!
Ron on May 21, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! This Metzler is for about 50/50 street to dirt. I recommend the IRC GP-110. That is more of an 80/20 street to dirt tire. Here is the link when you can find it. If you have any further questions you can contact our sales team t 888-339-3888 or 619-623-3661. http://www.bikebandit.com/irc-gp-110-motorcycle-tire
looking for an aggressive BMW R1100r tire

Will the Metzeler Enduro 3 Sahara Motorcycle Tire work as a back tire on my 2000 R1100 r BMW? I live on a dirt road and often ride on somewhat primitive dirt roads.

BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! With the Metzeler Enduro 3 Sahara Motorcycle Tire that your looking at this would work on your machine no problem as long as you match up your sizing, you may see a bit faster wear from this type of tire though.

Nice Tire for KLR 650
Got both the Metzeler Enduro 3 Sahara Tires for the front and rear wheels on my KLR 650. I had a set of these some years ago. I subsequently tried a set of Metzeler Metronic (Lasertec) tires for a change and although they were more road worthy I missed not having the knobby pattern for occasional "off road" ventures. The Enduro 3's are good for on and off road performance. My riding is about 3/4 paved road and 1/4 forest dirt roads. Not using it for deep sand or interstate touring. So these tires are a "fit" for my needs. I also bought new tubes on principle alone. . ..

worth the extra money!
I have a DR650SE that I use about 75% paved roads and 25% gravel, dirt, ect. This is the only tire that I'll buy. It hooks up off road pretty good and I got a total of 7,000 miles out of my last one, what a great tire.

Great upgrade tire, good all rounder
First let's start with the cons. The wear easily, I am on my second rear tire after 3,000 miles. Maybe I could have made it to 3,500 however I had a trip planned. I did elect for the softer compound. For the price, I expected 5k miles or better. The only other issue was soft sand of any depth. The rounded chevron style pattern digs in and then tosses you into a pattern you didn't expect. Now other than the wear and the loamy sand, the tires works awesome and loved them. I will however find something else, Michigan has a lot of sand and tired of managing the front sweep out in sand. Friend had some IRC tires and did much better. But I the highway and anything in between these tires were perfect. Low noise, great ride, durable, great road and wet rock traction. If I didn't live where sand was, I'd keep them on all the time and deal with the price. Maybe get a harder compound.

Great road tire.
These tire grip asphalt like glue and wear great. I got 5,000 miles from a rear. General off-road, ok. Soft dirt, sand and gravel is a bit tough with full pressure.

Great All Around Tire
Upgraded my tires and wanted something more aggressive. Looked at all of the 50/50 tires and decided on these. I'm getting older now and ride a klr 650 in the Mohave Dessert. You couldn't ask for a better 50/50 tire that you can rely on for paved roads especially cornering on regular pavement with out listing to the tire hum. Very quiete and secure. For off road, you,ll need to air-down the tires to about 15 psi, in gravel & hard track trails this tire excells at, you can run very fast and smooth. I can't say the same for loam or sand. In sandy canyons you don,t want to be there, you,ll end up going slow and getting hot(bring water). For loamy sand you just need to pay attention and go a little bit slower. For exploring the Dessert these tires work fine for a little trail riding and off road stuff your big benefit is getting back on the pavement and nailing it to cool down. I,ve tried many tires, dual sport tires are a compromise. If you go up to a 90/10 tire (90% on dirt) you,ll be able to stand that ride in the sandy canyon, you,ll go a little faster with more confidence but you,ll hear every noise that tire will make on the pavement and loose a little cornering & braking power too. I got about 3500 miles on the tire you can still ride on them but you,ll begin to lose your quick stoppies on the pavement (rear tire slide)& less control on the dirt. For the weight of the bike this is a better tire to buy than say a tire for a Big BMW (you know what I mean) any 450 or 650 will do. See you out there in the Dessert.
