What are the differences between this tire model and the regular
Metzeler ME 880 Marathon? The reason I asked was that this model has the rear 130/90/16 available. The regular Metzeler ME 880 Marathon doens't have this size listed for rear.

My bike is 1985 honda shadow VT500.

Thanks.
null on Nov 22, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! The XXL one will include all the rear tires that are the largest options offered. The regular 880 will include the standard sizes available. The XXL will be the best option available for your machine. If there is anything else we can assist you with just call or click!
This tire does not have listed the 120/70 for my K1200LT. It is ok to match it with a ME 880 Marathon non-reinforced 120/70?
mondrage on Jan 21, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! You may want to doublecheck your owners manual for proper weight ratings for you model to insure you could run the non reinforced. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.

Can this tire be used on the front or the rear?
Can this tire be used with tubes?
Dave on Mar 29, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question.

ME 880 can be used with or without tubes. If you have spoked rims you will need to put a tube in it.
You can only use these as front or rear and it will state which is which when you select your tire size.
Can you use a tube in a tubeless tire? Can you run a front tire on the rear or a rear tire on the front?

Great Tire
My third set. Quiet tire, no vibration, and handles better in the wet than my old Dunlops did in the dry. The sure-footed feeling on my heavy cruiser made my bike feel like new. From past experience, I expect to get double the life of the tires I removed.

Great Tire
I've been riding this tire on my 2005 BWM K1200LT for several years. Replaced the old OEM with this very same reinforced version. One day while out riding with a passenger, it felt like the rear tire just wasn't acting right. I stopped to check it and found it with less than 10 Lbs. of pressure. When I put air in it, the valve stem had a leak where it went into the rim. I believe a regular non-reinforced tire would not have withstood the highway speeds and traffic I drove in with the ease and safety that it did. I rode the bike home cautiously and without any issue. the next day I took it to the shop and replaced the valve stem and the tire (About 12,000 miles on it) with the same version without hesitation as its quality and strength may have saved our lives. Rides great in sun and rain, temps 33 and up through 100 while on long travel and even shorter commuter trips. Durability and longevity are superb, even with a passenger and extra gear.
