going based off good reviews. had a michelin scorcher on from the factory. wasn't a big fan, only got 7k miles out of it. went with dunlop on my fxlr, i run them on all of my other harleys, was a solid tire, a little slippery in the rain but solid tire got about 12k miles out of it. gonna give the Metzelers a shot now. will confirm how they handle in a few weeks

It fits. I have about 9000 miles on this bike. This is my fourth tire purchase (I replaced the originals just after my purchase) and I am experimenting with different brands to see what I like. I have this brand on the rear now and have been pretty happy with it, but it is too soon to see how long it lasts.

I was turned on to these Metzlers years ago . Was out one night with my wife on the back of my '90 Fatboy in pouring down rain . Told her to hold on and launched the bike , she pulled the front end up and I went thru all 5 gears till I dropped her back down at the traffic light . My wife laughed and said the tire never slipped once through that !

This tire is a "high Mileage" tire. What kind of mileage should they last? My Dunlop D402 - MU85B16 are only lasting about 5,000 miles. (2007 FLHTCUSE2). Previously on my 1984 and 1991 Electra Glides Ultra Classics I got 10,000 miles on the rear tires. I don't beat my bikes but I don't baby them either. I do push them (cornering, high speeds on the highways, - no burnouts!).
What should I expect out of this metzeler tire?
Thank you
Jeff Pava
Jeff - riding 46 years on Oct 15, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! Unfortunately there is no set mileage for any motorcycle tire but we do know we have had customers as well as employees that have used this tire tell us they are getting mileage ranging from 8,000-up words of 15,000 miles out of these tires (Rear). Many factors can vary the life of motorcycles so there is no guarantee on mileage unfortunately. After many uses though we find the Metzeler ME880 to be a pretty consistant tire when it comes to extended mileage. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
Can these tubeless tires be mounted on tubetype (with tubes) rims?
Sir David Hawkins on May 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! Yes they sure can. Tubeless only means the tire will hold air without a tube as well. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
What is the max PSI? The only rating I found was do not exceed 40 PSI during installation. So 40 is the max working PSI??
David H on Jul 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: David, thanks for the question. I couldn't find any info on the Metzeler website but I was checking out some forums online and depending on the tire size many people run 40 up front and 42-44 in the rear. Can I run a tube in this tire ?
A shopper on Sep 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I believe that you can run a tube in any tire but I would check with the manufacturer or a motorcycle tire specialist. A tubeless tire has a much beefier tire bead sine this is the sealing surface. You may experience some difficulty getting the tire on the rim due to this design, that is if you are mounting the tire yourself without a tire machine.

Can I plug a flat?

I have a victory kingpin. It came with bias ply tires. Can I switch to radial tires? What will I gain
A shopper on Jan 22, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Radial tires and bias ply tire are constructed differently. The radial tire dissipates heat better, has a shorter side wall and more flex thus increasing corning performance. This is why you see them on sport bikes. A bias ply tire has a taller, stiffer side wall that doesn't flex as much. It's designed for heavier motorcycles and can offer more stability. If you decide to buy the radial tires make sure they are rated for the weight of your motorcycle. There's a good article on the revzilla website from July 10th, 2014 that explains the differences in more detail.

What does it mean speeding rating?
A shopper on Mar 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! The speed rating is the speed you can safely travel on a specific tire set by the manufacturer. For example, the speed ratings will be different on a scooter tire and a sportbike tire. BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, there is no set mileage for any motorcycle tire but we do know we have had customers as well as employees that have used this tire tell us they are getting mileage ranging from 8,000-up words of 15,000 miles out of these tires (Rear). Many factors can vary the life of motorcycles so there is no guarantee on mileage, unfortunately. After many uses though we find the Metzeler ME880 to be a pretty consistent tire when it comes to extended mileage. Will this fit on a 2006 ultra?
A shopper on Aug 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for the question. According to our records, a 2006 Harley Electra Glide Ultra uses a MT90-16 front which converts to 130/90-16 or 5.00 to 5.10" and a MU85-16 rear which converts to 140/90-16 or 5.50 to 6.00". Looks like the front tire is available as a direct size replacement, as far as the rear goes you might be able to use a 150/80-16. Make sure that the load index and speed rating match up or exceed what Harley recommends before ordering. ME 888’s Are Great Tires
Metzeler 888 tires are great for my Kawasaki Voyager. Wet or dry roads they handle great and ride smooth. With only 2 tires, I only run the best. As long as they are made I will run them. Bike Bandit is my preferred business to buy them from. Always have been a pleasure to deal with.
