I ride a 06 Ultra Classic. I got tired of changing the rear Dunlop every 5000 miles. After a lot of research the Metzeler ME 888 Marathon was the hands down best tire for durability and performance. I'm gonna see 'bout that with the installation of this tire on my bike.
William Y on Sep 30, 2019
I am riding on one now. Would not willingly use anything else. You have to settle for what ever comes on a new bike, after that, it's metzeler.
John M on Sep 28, 2019
replacement is what's on it.

Metzeler tires have a long-standing reputation for performance and reliability, besides..., the Michelin tire set I wanted does not have the rear tire for my machine...so I went with the next best German-made tire!
Mark G on Aug 7, 2019
have always liked the way Metzeler tires performed, handled, and the held up to the road. Always a fan
Steve L on Aug 4, 2019
Look like a much better tire than the Metzeler 880. Better mileage to my understanding. Can't wait to try it, got nothing to loose.

my last two sets of tires were Metzeler ME 880's. The previous rear tire wasn't punctured when I ran over a screw that was embedded to it's head. The rear tire I'm ordering today is replacing said tire, which has15,000 miles of use. If you can find a better tire.... let me know !!!

This tire is a "high Mileage" tire. What kind of mileage should they last? My Dunlop D402 - MU85B16 are only lasting about 5,000 miles. (2007 FLHTCUSE2). Previously on my 1984 and 1991 Electra Glides Ultra Classics I got 10,000 miles on the rear tires. I don't beat my bikes but I don't baby them either. I do push them (cornering, high speeds on the highways, - no burnouts!).
What should I expect out of this metzeler tire?
Thank you
Jeff Pava
Jeff - riding 46 years on Oct 15, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! Unfortunately there is no set mileage for any motorcycle tire but we do know we have had customers as well as employees that have used this tire tell us they are getting mileage ranging from 8,000-up words of 15,000 miles out of these tires (Rear). Many factors can vary the life of motorcycles so there is no guarantee on mileage unfortunately. After many uses though we find the Metzeler ME880 to be a pretty consistant tire when it comes to extended mileage. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
Can these tubeless tires be mounted on tubetype (with tubes) rims?
Sir David Hawkins on May 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! Yes they sure can. Tubeless only means the tire will hold air without a tube as well. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
I have chosen the white side walk for harley davidson road king FLHRC which is classic spikes and can the one shown tubeless fit that cause it is saying yes and I need to be sure?

Can I run a tube in this tire ?
A shopper on Sep 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I believe that you can run a tube in any tire but I would check with the manufacturer or a motorcycle tire specialist. A tubeless tire has a much beefier tire bead sine this is the sealing surface. You may experience some difficulty getting the tire on the rim due to this design, that is if you are mounting the tire yourself without a tire machine.
What is the max PSI? The only rating I found was do not exceed 40 PSI during installation. So 40 is the max working PSI??
David H on Jul 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: David, thanks for the question. I couldn't find any info on the Metzeler website but I was checking out some forums online and depending on the tire size many people run 40 up front and 42-44 in the rear. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you by contacting us by email at [email protected], Live Chat or by phone toll-free at 1-888-339-3888. What does it mean speeding rating?
A shopper on Mar 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! The speed rating is the speed you can safely travel on a specific tire set by the manufacturer. For example, the speed ratings will be different on a scooter tire and a sportbike tire. Can I put a tube in my 260/40vr18rear tyre and if so where do I get one?
A shopper on Aug 18, 2019

Will this fit on a 2006 ultra?
A shopper on Aug 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for the question. According to our records, a 2006 Harley Electra Glide Ultra uses a MT90-16 front which converts to 130/90-16 or 5.00 to 5.10" and a MU85-16 rear which converts to 140/90-16 or 5.50 to 6.00". Looks like the front tire is available as a direct size replacement, as far as the rear goes you might be able to use a 150/80-16. Make sure that the load index and speed rating match up or exceed what Harley recommends before ordering. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you by contacting us by email at [email protected], Live Chat or by phone toll-free at 1-888-339-3888. Is it normal for a lot of black dust to come off tire with 3,500 miles on them?
Lisa W on Oct 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Lisa, thank you for the question. I wouldn't say it's normal. Do your tires look worn out? Are you giving it too much throttle? Are you maybe confusing it for brake dust? It could be a lot of things. Even the roads you are riding on... We would like to hear more about your situation. will you send me the manufacture date of tire i am going to purchase? i do not want a one year old tire before it even gets placed on my bike...
Thomas M on Jul 31, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! Unfortunately we are not able to guarantee that but we do know most if not all our tires are usually within a year of the manufacture date. We do not stock large amounts of tires at our location so most tires are shipped directly from the tire manufacturers closest warehouse to you. This would be the freshest stock they have on hand that is being shipped from these locations. We unfortunately do not have a way to verify which date you would get on your tire. All tires sold by BikeBandit.com are well within the manufacturers suggest shelf life for tires. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

I have a 2004 Yamaha midnight venture with a richland roadster trike kit. how many miles could I possibly expect from this tire?
A shopper on Jun 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, there is no set mileage for any motorcycle tire but we do know we have had customers as well as employees that have used this tire tell us they are getting mileage ranging from 8,000-up words of 15,000 miles out of these tires (Rear). Many factors can vary the life of motorcycles so there is no guarantee on mileage, unfortunately. After many uses though we find the Metzeler ME880 to be a pretty consistent tire when it comes to extended mileage. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
First, has this tire penetrated the sport touring market? Secondly what can I expect from 200/50 17 rear tire vs the stock 190/50 17?
Jerry J on Jun 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Jerry, thank you for the question. The Metzeler ME 888 Marathon Ultra Motorcycle Tire is aimed at the V-Twin crowd, base off of the carcass design and shape. I have seen a few sport touring bikes run it but I am not 100% sure how it performed on that type of bike. As far as a comparison between the different sizes, you should obviously expect a little bit of a wider contact patch, as well as a stronger non expanding design. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you by contacting us by email at [email protected], Live Chat or by phone toll-free at 1-888-339-3888. Not quite up to Michelin Standard
This tire rides very well when new but the simple fact that you need to run a higher pressure (based on Metzler data), probably was the cause of the rear tire "Squaring Off" so quickly and the front time cupped a bit. It was slao "Sluggish" in slow manuvering and really began to howl when it got 10K miles+ on it.
