   Metzeler Roadtec 01 Motorcycle Tire

The Metzeler Roadtec 01 Motorcycle Tire features enhanced grip on wet and low friction surfaces, increased mileage, and a high degree of adaptability for todays sport touring machines and all conditions.

    Features:
  • Higher wear resistance, obtained through a revised land/sea ratio on the rear tire in conjunction with the new tread design, ensures product performance consistency allowing users to enjoy the tire for its entire service life.
  • Increased grip on wet roads, with a focus on low friction surfaces (such as city streets and worn tarmac, low temperature), thanks to radial position of grooves.
  • Rebalanced tire stiffness to allow a better adherence of the rubber with the tarmac micro-asperities, increasing mechanical grip even on lower friction surfaces.
  • Increased mileage vs. Roadtec Z8 Interact (up to 10%), thanks to a different footprint shape (larger and shorter) which also enhances motorcycle handling
  • Metzeler multi-compound rear on selected sizes, with increased harmonization between the different compounds
  • Belt and carcass tension parameters upgraded to increase stability on rear tires during strong braking.
  • HWM (Heavy Weight Motorcycles)special version available to improve performance on motorcycles requiring them.
  • Tubeless (TL).
  • W rated for speeds of 168+ MPH

Have had great experiences with Metzeler tires, going back to the M3s, M5s & M7rrs. Looking for more mileage on my sports tourer.

Mark V on Apr 27, 2019
Highest rated touring tire that I could find. Have had good experience with Metzelers in the past.
Peter J on Apr 25, 2019
Needed to replace the Pirelli Phantoms on my 2016 Triumph T120. They stick on the dry but look out when things get wet. I know Metzeler has a good wet road reputation. Was going to stay with the Pirelli originally as the handling was great. Hopefully the Metzelers will handle just as good or better.
Tony W on Apr 17, 2019
Always have had great performance from Metzeler

Only tire that has a great speed rating in my sizes for my old Suzuki GS1150ef
Charles M on Apr 6, 2019
Best tire for my R1200RT. Good in wet and dry, not squirrely like Mich Pilots that wiggle on hard up and downshifts, and less prone to flats. Just never take your bike to Home Depot, their lots are full of screws and nails. Wears well too, as long or longer than Bridgestones, Dunlops, Contis, other model Metzelers and Mich's. I have tried them all.

By the reviews! I think this will be the right pick at this time.
Terry L on Feb 21, 2019
Researched different tires over and over. I hope all the hype about these tires are true. With as many great reviews online and YouTube, I’m sure I made the right choice. Ride, handling, rain and dry traction, longevity, cornering, braking and cold weather since I live in Colorado all seem to check out. I’ll get back to you in a couple thousand miles. It won’t take long as much as I ride.
Robert D on Sep 7, 2018
well reviewed
chris g on Mar 17, 2018
It shows great review and compares to the best millage tire on sport touring out performing it on every way and being faster, looks like the right choice for the money

Sounded like the right tire for my 2014 Honda CTX 700 I've had good luck with Metzeler Tries
P A on Jan 1, 2018
Had the PR4gt and wanted something with more grip in dry as it doesn't rain much in las vegas
Bogart B on Dec 16, 2017
YouTube reviews all placed this tire at or near the top of the list. They also were looking at the things I am concerned about: less-than-ideal roads; dry grip; wet braking and tread life.

I also had Metzlers on my previous bike and really liked them

My 5th BMW & MY 10TH SET OF Metzeler I have never had an issue, not one great mpg and super tread life

I wanted to buy the Roadtec 01 tire because the reviews on the tire performance was what I was looking for. Had Dunlop but wanted to try a different brand.

Because I trust on Metzeler tires and if those models are new, must be more reliable.

Good rider reviews. I've installed ME880's on several cruisers and been happy with them. I'm sure I will like the new Roadtec 01, also.

What is “w” versus “hwm”?
A shopper on Feb 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. The W is the speed rating of the tire, this means that you can safely run the tire at 168 mph. The HWM stands for Heavy Weight Motorcycles, for touring motorcycles. After MANY MANY tires these are my fav
I have over 150K miles on my R1200RT and I think these are my fav tires so far. They are a little on the expensive side but they do wear well and I think perform best in wet and dry conditions. Michelin Pilot series tires are good but on the soft side and I find wiggle when downshifting. They also see to be very prone to picking up punctures, perhaps because they have so many sipes in the tread. Bridgestone Battlax series are less expensive but not as good in wet conditions. They do wear well though. I currently have a set of Dunlop Roadsmart 3's on which are my second choice after these Metzelers. The dunlops are less expensive and perform well all around. If you are just going to ride the interstates in dry weather then tire choice won't matter much, but if you expect to encounter rain and dry and do some canyon carving I'd recommend either these or the Dunlops for the RT.

New Metzler Roadtec 01 tire set
I recently bought a '98 Suzuki Katana that badly needed tires. After doing several days worth of research, I selected the Metzelers. The delivery was quicker than expected and the mounting and balancing went without any drama.

The tires seem much more linear than the worn out Dunlops that came with the bike and even feel better than I remember from my Metzeler-shod BMW of 20+ years ago.

The bike is still very new to me, so I haven't pushed it hard, yet. OTOH, I really like them so far.

Metzeler's are my choice of tires for a BMW motorcycle. Prices vary by dealer. Bike bandit provided the best price, timely service to include shipping. I will use bike bandit in the future.

Love the Roadtec 01
The bike felt slightly longer geared on first ride. Rep has not confirmed but I think rear is a (slightly) taller tire than D214 Dunlop. Anyway no problem. Tires look cool and have that nice intangible feel of stability when cornering instead of Brand X's feeling like "power steering." Too early to see if they last as long as tales about Brand X.
