These tires perform well on my R1200GSA. I do long distance Dual Sport rides and have used several sets on the GSA and they wear and handle well.

This is an excellent tire for a big heavy bike such as my BMW R1150GS. Great on pavement and surprisingly capable off road, As much as I need for the level of off road I'll be doing on a bike this big and heavy. Wear is good too, as is traction wet and dry. Can't beat them, in my opinion. Your life hangs on 2 small contact patches, tires aren't a place to scrimp.

My husband rides a 2012 Suzuki V-Strom, I ride a 2008. He purchased these after a few hours of research on tire compounds (he's that guy). When they were installed on his bike he said the bike felt like it would corner as though it were on rails, and it felt more responsive than ever. The tires are about 2-3 years old now and are still holding up very well.

I really wanted to try the Mitas E-07 but your site doesn't carry Mitas brand. The Metzler Tourance is doing pretty well on-road but not off-road.

Have had good experience with Metzeler tires.
Larry G on Jul 30, 2018
I have run Tourances on my BMW F650GS and now my R1200GS for 12 years. While they aren’t serious off pavement tires, they have worked very well for me. On road they are quiet and have very good traction in dry and wet conditions. In the dirt they are adequate for graded roads and by lowering the pressure you can gain additional traction in loose stuff. Maybe not the longest wearing, but the trade off is worth it to me. 6-9k rear, 8-10k front.

I would prefer having the radials; however, my Triumph Tiger (2002) has spoked wheels, and I believe the original tires must be bias ply with tubes. Is there a simple way to fix the rim to allow tubeless tires?
Bruce W on Jun 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! There really is no easy way of fixing a spoked wheels to be a tubeless wheel . If you wanted to get away from inner tubes, the best thing for you would be order mag wheels. I can't tell from the image, is the lettering on the sides white? I would prefer all black.
Matt J on Aug 23, 2016

Use with tube followup. I saw the answer recommending using bias ply tire with tube. Bias ply is listed as an option for front tires but not rear. Would it be OK to use a tube with a radial rear? If not, why? Thanks
Craig on May 29, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! It is not recommend to use a Tube in a Radial tire because the friction on the tube inside the tire can cause tire/tube failure.
What is the diference between 150/70 R17, R. instead H, i am looking for these product with 69H.
Same question for 110/80 R19, R, instead H, 59 H
Thanks,
Mario on Oct 11, 2010
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! The R rated tire would be good for up to 106 mph while the H rated tire would be good for up to 130 Mph.
Use with tubes?

These are tubeless tires, can I use them on my Triumph Scrambler that has spoked wheels with a tube?
MG23 on Feb 17, 2010
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question. You can use tubes with tubeless tires. However it is not recommended to use tubes with a radial tire. This tire offers options in both bias ply and radial.
metzeler tourance

It says the speed rating is "R", what speed can it be used for? I checked a chart and didn't see an "R" rating.
PeteLatteier on Nov 4, 2009
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! With the R rated tires that would be for 106 mph, now when they do the speed rating how they test it is they run the tire at that speed for an hour and a half, so as long as you dont ride more than an hour and a half at speeds over 106 mph this would work out great for you.

Tourance Tires
As advertised. Great 90/10 tire. Great on the street with very little noise or roughness. Very adequate on the fire roads around north Georgia. Does not like the rough stuff, mud or sand. I have them on my 1200GS and would buy again.

These tires have been great so far I've maybe put 600 miles on them they seem to hug the road well and they have a good reputation of lasting close to or 10,000 miles on the rear tire. They carve well on the road and have good grip

Metzeler Tourance rear tire on R1200GS
I have run Tourances for about 12 years on BMW GS’s. They are rated at 90% on-road and 10% off-road. I would rate them more of an 80/20 tire since I feel they do better off-road than just 10%. Airing them down greatly improves traction off-road, but they are not serious off-road tires.
Tread wear is decent, not great, and I feel is the tires major drawback. 6-9 K miles (rear-front) is about what I average.
On the plus side I find on-road traction to be very good, even in wet conditions. I would recommend this tire for stated usage.
