I am considering Michelin Pilot Activ tires for my 1982 BMW R65. The owner's manual says I should use a 4.00-10 on the rear wheel and the Michelin fitment chart says I should use a 120/90-18. What is the difference and which should I use? I plan on using a 90/90-18 on the front.
John McC on Aug 3, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. The differance is standard and metric measurements. The conversion chart says you can use 110/90 or 120/90 by 18. Please call us for further assistance at 1-888-339-3888.

I have a 2008 kawasaki ex 500, and of all the michelin tires i have chosen they either have the front, or the rear in the right size, but not both. I am wondering if it would be ok to run the michelin pilot activ for the rear and a michelin pilot road 3 in the front?

KC on Jun 23, 2012

I own a 1979 CB 750-F Super Sport Honda. I need to replace the tires. I know what size the rear tire is (120-90-18H) (ME 88). The front tire is an ME33 with the the markings on that tire are an MJ-90-19-H. What does the MJ in metric size mean? I like the Michelin Pilot Activ but am not sure what size to put on the front. Can anyone help.

Can I use a 90/90x18 front and a 4.00x18 rear for a 1975 Yamaha RD350. The original tire size is a 3.00x18 rear and a 3.50x18 front. Is the side wall aspect different? I am told a 110/80x18 is a good rear size metric. Thanks.
vintage2strokestreet on Jul 11, 2010
BEST ANSWER: Thansk for your question! You may use those sizes on your machine but you may want to check with a mechanic on this to make sure your machine will run ok with those size tires on it.

I really like the Michelin pilot very well. It is one of the most responsive tires I’ve ever had on the bike. I would definitely recommend the Michelin pilot and bike bandit did a fantastic job getting the tires to me in a timely fashion.

I've had this tire on a 1984 BMW R100 and have gotten around 10,000 miles out of it ,which is 3-4 thousand more than the Dunlop 404,it's a little more money but I think its worth it.
I use the bike for everyday transportation and it handles well and is good in the rain

Well, first of all, this probably won't get published!! I used this tire on my 1999 Valkyrie. I mounted it on the front rim and reversed the rotation. In our world, that is called going dark side. since I run a car tire on the rear, I am double dark side. I was running this same setup, but with a different brand and getting about 16,000 miles on my front tire. I am testing the Pilot Activ to see how it does in mileage. So far, the handling has been great. Very nice traction and handling. So far, I love it.
